Anyone ever heard of PortAventura near Barcelona? the current mrs mk is about to book and I'd appreciate any comments.
Cheers in advance.

I've been, I've got a t-shirt to prove it! :icon_wink

It's nowhere near as good as Alton Towers, but my lot are into white-knuckle rides.

It's divided into different 'Lands' and they have quite a few shows on throughout the day, which might appeal to younger kids.

The best bit of advice I would offer if you do go, is to go late afternoon and stay until it closes at midnight - 1) It's cooler and 2) There's a decent fireworks display when it shuts for the night.

i went there MK and if you like your big rollercoasters then you'll be pleased as Dragon Kahn is pretty big-it used to hold the record for the most loop the loops! (it has about 8 if i remember) i honestly can't remember much else about the place, but i guess the advantage of going at night (like we did) is that its not so hot-and riding a rollercoaster in the dark is pretty fun
its got your standard kind of theme park rides apart from that

and if i remember correctly the fireworks display was pretty decent too.

i fecking love fireworks me.
cheers dd

Looks like we'll stay at one of the hotels with a beach, water park in the afternoon and roller coasters in the evening. lovely work.

We went Autumn half-term last year - staying in Salou. It was excellent - that year our half term was different from the rest of the UK and the park was almost empty. Rides are good, but there are enough barriers to show that at busy times the queues must be horrendous.

The plan is to stay at one of the hotels on site and then you get priority tickets and basically queue jump!

Cheers everyone. looks like the bird's done well, i shall reward her later....
