Id rather top the group, as the 2nd place teams will have to play a preliminary knockout round against a 3rd place teams from the Champions League, which will have some tough sides in it, looking at the way the draw went for that yesterday.

Never liked the fact weaker teams from the champions League parachute into this competition, smacks of arrogance and nepotism, should be a cracking group stage for us.

Shame about Justin as presumably means they're less confident about his October return - if he'd be available for the last 3 group games, you'd imagine they would've included him as it's probably preferable for him to regain match fitness in the Europa rather than the Prem.

Mendy out is surprising, given that I'd expect him to play in rotated EL games. Maybe we're still hoping to find him a move, or happy that Soumare/Hamza can cover Ndidi when he's rested. Or we just don't plan to rest Ndidi...

Benkovic vs Mendy I guess was the call they had to make. And I suspect Benkovic has got the nod given the defensive injuries and questionable fitness of Evans/Vestergaard. Strange though since we preferred to have 2 keepers on the bench in our last game rather than include Benkovic.

Last season we could have probably gotten away with it but this year, the group is much tougher and I wouldn't be surprised if we were playing to go through right until the last group game.

Both of them will be needed in the group stage if fit imo.
