Everyone full on New Year cheer it seems.

It's not been pretty but Everton haven't really been much better - Kasper has had nothing to do all game.

Changes were always needed. We only played 2-3 days ago and they were ****ed then so hardly too surprising and nothing that strange really. Ricardo on the left a bit meh but far from the poorest showing.

Plenty of pace and energy on the bench and we could easily take 3 points here by stepping things up and pushing on as we tend to in matches, especially away from home.

It isn’t about this game in isolation. And I’m not bothered how Everton approach it; that’s their problem.

My issue is that I’ve watched us play this very same game too many times for it not to be by design. I sick of being bored at football matches. It’s one of the reasons I haven’t travelled today, despite having a ticket.

I’ve been criticised for this view. People ask me what more I want from Leicester City. Being in the top ten is fine. You’re never going to usurp any of the top six permanently.

They’re half right. But we do have money and I’d like us to at least have a crack at qualifying for Europe though the league. To play our strongest side when we get to the last eight of cup competitions. A club the size of Leicester City is stupid to ever turn its nose up at such opportunities.

Where they’re wrong is in asserting that I should put up with boring football in exchange for what, historically, is a bloody good place for Leicester City to be. Why shouldn’t I want to see attractive, attacking football? We might still fail to qualify for Europe or to win cups. Those things aren’t easy to achieve. But at least the process would be fun.

I’m not wedded to the past. I don’t think it has to be counter attacking football forevermore. I’m fine with possession football. Even in favour of moving in that direction. What I’m not in favour of it that possession being slow, concentrated in non-dangerous areas and without purpose.

I work hard for the money I spend watching this shit. If we can’t win stuff can it not at least be enjoyable? Give me 14th and fun football rather than 8th and this. Either way we don’t qualify for Europe and either way we stay up comfortably. Makes no difference to me; I don’t get any of the league position money.
