FA Cup R4 Leicester v Birmingham

I don't think it's possible to have a road layout (especially in a pre-existing city centre) which is capable of moving 30k people from something as small as a stadium in cars in the kind of timespace that would prevent gridlock. I've taken the train everytime since probably the 80s though and really don't see the need to leave early as a result - for full disclosure though, I am 6'5" so unlikely to get squished

Usually takes me 15 minutes after getting in the car to be on the way.
We park about a 15 minute walk from the ground, near Aylestone Swimming Pool. Don't hit any traffic from there to Wigston because we've largely walked past it all by the time we get to the car.

Appreciate that's no good for the less mobile or people going in a different direction, but I bet there are plenty who could be better off parking further away and walking for a bit, rather than unnecessarily contributing to the chaos closer to the ground.

Mate, it's appalling.

I regularly go to sport events for work attended by 3-4 times the number of people at an average Leicester match. I've rarely seen anything as bad as the KP.
My favourite is the new cycle lane next to Welford Road. That you have to cross 3 lanes of traffic to get to if you're cycling into town.

Then 3 lanes back if you want to continue round the ring road. Atrocious.

We went on the he coach to Millwall on Saturday, and got back to Leicester just after the egg chasers had finished their game. It took about 20 mins to get from Narborough road, Upperton Road junction to the ground, then it took me over a hour to get off the car park and get home. i could have walked it quicker. That‘s why I rarely drive to home games

Leicester city council have a lot to answer for.
The road system in Leicester is absolutely shocking. Worst "ring road" in the country
Come and have a drive round London and then you can see “total destruction” of the road network.

I’ve just been issued 3 points and fined £100 for travelling 24 on a 20 limit. I can almost get my head around the fine but 3 points?

3 points in London now equates to an uplift of 60% on your insurance premium. All about revenue and **** all to do with safety.

In America, you have had the luxury of plenty of space and basically a blank page upon which to design your cities. Most of American Town Planning has been based up the use of the automobile. In Britain, it was based upon the horse and cart. In Paris, for example, it took Napoleon III to edict the demolition of thousands of houses to create the broad boulevards we know today. Can you imaging that happening now.

Each country has it's pros and cons. In England, you have shit food, shit weather and Boris Johnson. On the other-hand, you have great pubs, great football and great history.

In France, we have great food, great wine and beautiful women. On the other-hand, we have French men.

I have learnt to not criticise a place. Just accept it for what it is and remember why you chose to live there.

I mean, I didn’t mention or criticise England once but I’ve been to sporting events all over the world (obviously I’m King Shit!) - the act of getting away from the ground at Leicester is one of the worst I’ve seen anywhere in the world. Just thought that may contribute/further the conversation that’s been rumbling on.

Meh. I just retreat to the lounge for a few minutes and the traffic is not really an issue, except for the plebs.

Yeah, there’s always a decent dessert buffet to kill the time I suppose. Beats mingling with the unwashed.
Dessert is served at half time, it’s the post match pie and beer that keeps me there. Heaven forbid I exit when all the commoners are out there.
