I don't want my children's innocence being lost at that age!!!!!

I am massively anti this idea.

i agree they should be out on their bikes or out playing not knowing where and what a penis/vagina is and what it does - leave til theyre about 8 or 9 at the very earliest

Its not a particularly demanding list. I'm sure all three of my daughters have met those criteria.

They only have to watch TV,play Computer Games and look around them and the innocence i lost nowadays

I don't have kids so my opinion from the outset will be neccessarily different anyway. I agree with the point about innocence being lost, but it seems to me that it is being lost anyway at earlier ages in many different ways, it may help if it was structured?

Maybe 6 is too early, I don't really know anyone that age to place how young it is.

No it isn't.

My girls are still in fantasy land with Princesses and Fairies. That's where I want them to stay for as long as possible.

They don't watch any adult TV or TV aimed at children above their age groups.
 
Sex education, and drug education, needs to be overhauled in this country. Telling somebody that if they have sex without a condom they will get an STI is misleading, because as soon as they risk it and get lucky they will start to feel invulnerable.

Same as with drugs, by telling them drugs are bad and mess with your head, the first time they take and and don't have a bad trip it instantly discredits what they've been told, so they ignore all advice they have. Much better to say "drugs can make you feel good, but there is a risk, and it only takes one to **** you up" IMO

I agree but I fear that when they go to School they will find out about it soon enough

You seem a good parent though, there are lot's that let their kids do as they please, and unfortunately with a state education system they have to cater for the different scenarios, hence the massive difficulty in finding a balance. When I was at school I was similar to your daughters, believed in Santa until I was 12 etc, and had to fight against a lot of other kids even as young as 6/7 telling me Santa/Easter Bunny etc didn't exist. A lot of parents it seemed told their kids the truth early to avoid having to fork out. Other kids can do a lot of damage to their innocence no matter how hard you try.

When I was 10 one of out classmates brought in a pack of porno cards his dad had bought him in Spain and we all spent our lunchtime examining them. The problem was they were from the 80's so I expected all women to have big blond hair and massive black pubic hair, talk about setting unrealistic standards!

I know, and that's a "fight" I've already admitted defeat to.

Instead, I shall embrace my children coming home and asking me stuff that other kids have said, and then explaining what the situation "actually" is.

Sometimes the best time to teach kids stuff, is when they actually ask you about it themselves and are curious enough to want to know and understand.

picking up and seeing things like that at 10 is totally different to knowing things like that at 6yrs old

But unfortunately in this day and age they are going to hear it in the Playground,some would argue that its better they know the facts rather than what they hear.Some children go to idyllic Schools where they won't hear anything of the kind but i'd imagine its a different story in the inner cities etc
