Except that's not what I said. You have a habit of making this type of nonsense up so I can't be bothered to explain it to you - there isn't a piece of paper or a wax crayon big enough.

I mean, it’s exactly what you said.

You have a habit of thinking your opinion counts more than others you know.

No, just as you think you are correct in your assertion and are defending it, I am doing exactly the same. It's called discussion. I guess irony is lost on you. Now let's kiss, make up and agree that however bad it gets, at least we're not Stoke.

An unnecessary risk with team selection in a knockout competition without a single other thing to play for.

Riyad will be both cup tied and resting related.

A new system too? Bizarre.

Let's look at the selection more closely shall we:

Keeper - Jakupovic did well
RB - Simpson injured, Amartey is the preferred option in the PL so kept his place.
CD - Dragovic did well.
CD - Benalouanne was awful but we didn't concede so that wasn't the issue.
LB - Chilwell has started games in the PL and many want him to be our first choice LB.
MID - James played the last PL game in place of Iborra who had been poor for 2 games and was excellent. Today he was not so good.
MID - Silva needed game time and some were waxing lyrical about his eight minutes in the PL.
MID - King has started more than once in the PL and cup this season and is part of the normal PL first 11 rotation.
FWD - Gray has started plenty of games and is in the normal PL first 11 rotation.
FWD - Slimani had an excellent game in the PL and deserved to start especially as Vardy is also injured.
FWD - Barnes was a bit shit but is young and needs experience. This was a good opportunity for that but Okazaki may have been a better fit.

In the second half we brought Albrighton and Okazaki on, 2 regular PL starters for a large proportion of the time.

When you look at it properly, it's hardly scandalous, is it?!

I just had a little look at the Post Match thread from the Man City game to remind myself what the reaction was about the line up then.

Bearing in mind we named a stronger lineup in that game than we did today, and our next game was 4 days later....10 points to whoever can guess who’s comment was this:

“The opportunity wasn't missed in the shootout, it was missed with a spineless starting eleven.”

Brilliant.

I went back to look for the same purpose but couldn't be arsed with it.

Man City was a missed opportunity and the managers fault.

Today was just the players under performing.

Quality players were still there in enough numbers to make it a win for us
Silva didn't shine - some nice touches early on but lost interest and probably not fit for a full 90 minutes yet
James ditto
King -too slow even for Fleetwood, could have cost a goal
Gray - 2 nice bits of play but otherwise anonymous
Slimani- at least he tried a bit but as usual he just doesn't have that final touch again
Barnes- obvious he isn't used to any of his teammates and not ready yet for first team football
Benny and Dragovic- Did okay but wasn't totally convinced by either. At least Benny didn't make any reckless challenges
Amartey - I've said this numerous times -he is NOT a right back. When their winger went past him like he wasn't there it was a real embarrassment.
Chilwell still needs to improve his defensive qualities.
Subs
Albrighton -tried as usual but not have any magic touch this week
Ockizaki - ditto
Nacho man - hardly touched the ball and didn't look arsed to find it either

That team selection was plenty good enough and strong enough to comfortably beat league one Fleetwood, with the exception of Barnes it was a team full of players with premier league experience.

What is clear is that many of the fringe players lack the quality and more importantly have the desire to force themselves into genuine contenders for a starting berth and establish themselves as first team regulars. There would appear to be a an unnerving comfort zone within our squad where the players outside the main 13/14 seem quite content with their little lot, yesterday was a real opportunity for these fringe players to lay down a marker and give Puel some genuine selection headaches and they didn't seem to give a f£&k.

For what it's worth for me only Silva can be forgiven for the performance level given it was his first start for over 4 months. Feel for Harvey Barnes who's first ever start was alongside that shower of shite never had a chance to shine. The rest should hang their heads in shame. If I was Puel I would make the whole first team squad stay behind on Monday after training and watch the entire game again and stress that lack of commitment and performance level is totally unacceptable and will not be tolerated at this football club.

When will people (including professional football managers) realise that throwing a team of random, rare performers together and expecting them to beat well drilled and hungry lower league sides doesn't always work?

The amount of changes is key, we made too many.

This is why we rarely reach any cup finals, our attitude to them is shit.

I think the key thing is that a number of those players are good enough to play in the first team but like you say, we cannot afford to make so many changes and expect to get good performance.

Are you seriously posting this and trying to use it as a comparison? Please tell me that this is a joke otherwise you are making yourself look even more foolish than you have thus far.

We were playing Manchester City in a quarter final not Fleetwood Town in a 3rd round. I mean, you really can't see the difference? Jebus man, think!

If you go to the replay, you're a complete feckin' idiot

Bit surprised to be emailed details of ticketing for the replay within just a couple of hours of that disgrace. As that insipid performance is still fresh in my mind I;m not exactly inspired to reserve my seat.

Does anyone know if the replay will be televised?

You need to be careful. City Fan will be along in a minute having wasted time searching previous threads for a post of yours taken totally out of context about a different set of circumstances completely to try and rationalise his objection to what you're saying.

But we picked a team good enough to beat Man City’s reserves. We had loads of internationals in.

I'm assuming you are desperate for a reaction because if you are not, your comments are bordering on the insane. I haven't got any more time for this stupidity.
