How do you know it would have made a difference to the result?

The only way to be sure is if the disputed incident was the last kick of the match.
I'll rephrase: it would have made a difference to the progress of the match.

How many times per season, never mind per game, is goal line technology really needed?
I can't think of once down the KP/Walkers/Filbert Street.

If a team says they get relegated due to a goal not being given in a certain game. I say bollox, being relegeated is because you've been shite throughout a season, not just unlucky in 1 game.

You can't argue one thing, that it needs "to be all encompassing or nothing at all", and then just change the debate as to how much impact it will have. Well you can and have, but it makes no sense.

There aren't that many decisions that are impacted by goal-line technology, but there still are some. And if one aspect of decision-making accuracy can be improved then I think football should follow other sports' lead and adopt it.

It seems to me that Giggs is rather more than just "over-age" and that to include David Beckham as well could lead to problems in the later stages of the game. Giggs has been able to play fairly regularly in the Man U team; I doubt if David Beckham could. So I think the selection is right on merit.

I am now going to write something even I think slightly ridiculous. Stuart Pearce reminds me a bit of Alf Ramsey and not just because they were both great fullbacks. Yes - I know Sir Alf had a fantastic record as a manager before he managed England. Nevertheless in the press conference I felt there was a hint of Sir Alf. There is that air of strength and obstinacy about Pearce which I like. Cloughie once said "Alf's a stubborn bugger" - he could have been describing Pearce.

Of course these characteristics will do no good for Pearce's prospects of ever becoming England manager. Ever since the FA eagerly sacked Sir Alf one of their chief criteria for England manager is not being a "stubborn bugger". Stuart Pearce's willingness to disregard the British Olympic Association may not have gone unnoticed.

I don't really see the resemblance, David. Maybe it's because Ramsey never struck me as being a bit dim.

Is Jonathan Pearce Jack Buland's agent? To listen to him you would think in Butland and Hart England had Gordon Banks and Peter Shilton both in their prime to pick from.

Only time will tell, but JB certainly looks a good prospect.
Did you hear the comment that at one match JB had 52 (footballing)scouts watching him.
As a country we've been bereft of decent keeper's for a long time.
David Seaman at his prime was our last, but what competition did he have?

Our 2nd game tonight, against UAE. Hopefully perform a lot better than against Senegal!

Much better with Ramsey staring.
1 -0 up Giggs header.
10 man Senegal beat Uruacry 2 -0.

I've stuck with the swimming; was great seeing Phelps looking mardy because he lost out on another gold in the relay :icon_bigg

Phelps and Lochte perhaps not best friends?
