Past experience of this situation would say otherwise.

Remember West Ham's change of heart with their big-time charlies when Trevor Brooking took over from Glenn Roeder. They were extremely unlucky in getting relegated, got 42 points if I remember correctly.

I think Taggart is far more than the full blooded defender he orignally was. Under the management of MON, he understood the time to turn it on and off.

But Brooking had a bit more about than a big Irishman shouting obscenities

What have either of these two got to do with Gerry Taggert? Are you saying that one of them was a bully?

Taggert can talk a very good management game in the studio - there is nothing at all to say that he would be any good at it. If the problem really is player-attitude (and I think it is), there is no evidence at all to suggest that Gerry could do a single thing about it The youtube clip of the incident with Wise made him look like a twat - if he thinks that being heavy-handed will improve our performances, he is again being a twat.

I agree

these lads know their out on theirs arse come summer, you would think theyd be trying to put themselves in the shop window, bunch ****ing wasters

Anyone thinking that 15 players are going to have their contracts paid up and another 20 players brought in to replace them are living in cloud cuckoo land.

Manderic will keep those under contract if he can't sell them and bring in 5-6 new players to add to those leaving/out of contract.

Realistically expect Henderson, McCarthy, McAuley, Porter, Wesolowski, Hume, Fryatt, Stearman to be in the 1st team squad next year if I'm right in thinking they are all under contract.

I would agree with that as well

I would agree with that as well

Out of contract in 2008: Maybury, de Vries, Hughes, McCarthy, Sheehan, Douglas, Hammond, Hume, Wesolowski, Kenton

Out Of Contract in 2009: Stearman, Fryatt, McAuley, Kisnorbo, Henderson

Out Of Contract in 2010: Logan, Porter

Expect all of the above to still be about unless they can be sold (bar maybe De Vries and Douglas)

(*list nicked off another thread)

I agree Dunc, and that is why urgent action needs to be taken and Kelly given the boot with immediate effect, IMO the results and performances are a clear indication that this group of players do not want to play for Kelly, I would however imagine that most would still want to be involved in the Mandaric revolution next season.

Realistically who would come to us now and risk their reputation or CV by potentially taking us down?!

No one who wishes to have a career in management is going to come, so just as MM has said repeatedly its RK til the summer.

Your edit is even more unbelievable. He was nothing before MON took him on, but even that didn't help him to understand when to turn it on and off. Was the Wise incident not after his MON years? - he didn't know when to turn it off then, did he? - he committed the original foul and still he thought that he had a reason to hold onto somebody by the throat. What kind of learing did he get from MON that should have prevented him making himself look a twat on that occasion.

If Taggert wanted to coach or manage, he would have done something towards getting some badges by now. As it is he knows he can get a few quid by sitting in the studio talking about it. And that's as far as he will get. Live with it.

I used an example of a respected ex-player regardless of his nature, he's respected at and around the club. The use of ex-player whose held in high regard by the fans and club means the players will listen and will no longer have this puppet of execution, Rob Kelly to hide behind.

The use of youtube clip is a bit silly to dismiss Taggart's behaviour because that would suggest that Roy Keane, Paul Ince, Alan Shearer who (in their short times of coaching have done well) profit off their use of the iron fist. Just because a player would swing punches on the pitch doesnt mean he'd swing punches in the changing room.

I agree again. Its obvious to me that Kelly will be here until the Summer then released from his contact or whatever.

Well he hasnt he? Working at the club unpaid with youngsters whilst doing his coaching badges?!? Didnt he take a coaching role at Stoke?!?

And if he seriously wants to be a coach/manager why the hell would he risk his first job being a 5 game stint in which he took Leicester down to Div 1 for the first time.

He certainly wouldn't be manager next season even if he did keep us up.

You may be right, but I would imagine any manager worth employing would have enough faith in his own ability that they would be arrogant and talented enough to take the job regardless of circumstances, comfortable in the faith that they would succeed.

I still think Newell would be a decent appointment, would give us some short term lift but would provide long term ambition. If not then I agree with Highland somebody like Brian Little on a short term contract would be another decent option.

My suggestion was that he would take the role on for 5 games, nothing more or nothing less. The question of risk would be the kind of thing a wannabee manager would relish, he could lead a team away from relegation and the 5 game stint would look nice on his CV.

This situation is still in Leicester's hands and the players. The situation works on the pre-assumption that Kelly would be sacked, Taggart was his experience of football to be the chap to caretake with possibly someone more experienced alongside.

Stranger things have happened but I would be seriously amazed if this was the case.

Who would you consider to be in the frame if Kelly was sacked? Miller and Stowell seem far too chumy, it would go down to 2 options, the Youth duo or Taggert?!?

Just for example, Mark Robins at Rotherham, although they look sure fires to get relegated. His honeymoon seen them gain 3 wins out of 6, that kind of a ratio of an ex-player at a club whose inexperienced would see us stay up.

Ian Richardson at Notts County, Magpies legend, two years on a caretaker basis he led them to safety from dropping out of the legend.

Just don't see it, sorry. I cannot see a manager coming into a situation nothing to do with him, working with players he doesn't know or can change, for a 5 game period just to stroke his own ego, with the best outcome being safety and with a likely chance of getting relegated.

Its not faith or arrogance, it would be stupidity.

So Newell it is.
