He's a young player, they're the worst when it comes to having problems settling in a new area. I don't think it's any suprise that it's the manager he florished under who is coming in for him now.

He replace Gillespie with Momo - need I say anything else. Again, no attempt to negotiate new terms. The man played plenty of international games over the summer without a club, so the ball was really in our court to at least make some effort to offer terms. No other clubs were interested at the time and I am sure he would have agreed to stay. He was also ten times the player that Momo was.

.. and odds on he will play in Africa in Jan/Feb.

Silverfox, of course you've got a right to be annoyed, but for me the decision not to re-sign Gillespie proved CL's credentials - that waster scored one fluky goal and did naff-all else in 2 seasons, possibly my least favourite LCFC player ever. I admit Momo is shaping up to be as bad though. Douglas is as good as most goalies in this division too - he's made some excellent stops. Williams just doesn't want to play, Dawson thought he was too good for us - where is he now?

Do agree with your point re research though.

CL's good buys - Hughes, Gerrbrand, McCarthy, Johansson (I am worried about this spat I must say), Hume, Henderson.
Adequate - Douglas, Maybury, de Vries.
Bad - Hammond, Sylla, Gilbert.
Jury out - Hamill, Kisnorbo.

Re-signing Dublin and Wilcox can go in the debit column too.

Gillespie improved a little under CL, but the " effort " he put in week in, week out under MA was a disgrace to his profession. Also, remember Levein had a brief to bring the age of the squad down. Finally, we do not know what salary Gillespie was after.

i agree with that..but put Kisnorbo in the Adequate section.
I'd put Dublin in the good buys as well - for his performances at the back.

Gilbert was pure shite, and his body language on the field was a disgrace. Let Sheff Wed have him......

In my mind it is a good call, CL realises his mistake and ships him out. I will bet Sturrock will more than pay for him so we wont be out of pocket.

The few times I saw him play he had me biting the back of my hand, he was toss!!!!

You all thought he was shite anyway so what are you moaning about ? This Country........:icon_bigg :icon_wink

I'm moaning about how CL is wasting this club's money. Money we don't have anymore

If He get's it seriously wrong over his purchases around the £250k mark - what reason is there to think his judgement would be if he had much larger sums to spend ?...ok don't bother, I realise that under the present circumstances that is never likely to happen.

We do not know the full circumstances behind Gilberts departure, but it is easy to add it to the list of complaints when things are not going well.

I noticed there was a lot of upbeat comment on this board during the Watford game (even before we took the lead) and obviosly this changed (a fine line between success and failure). There was a lot of negative comment about taking Smith off - what we didn't know was that he was injured.

A lot of posters including myself have been dismayed at CL recent show of stubborness, but todays action of moving Gilbert on IMO is to be applauded, it is a brave and fairly ruthless course of action to dump a player that you as manager have signed a little more than 4 months ago, especially after spending a sizeable fee on the player. Well done Craig for a quick and decisive move.

What concerns me more is the current treatment of Hume and Johansson, I have a horrible feeling that Humey may well be on his way out in the Jan transfer window and to me that would be a travesty, as for Johansson IMO he has never let anybody down at this club, he was picked to play a position which is not his favoured, never complained as far as we know, after some indifferent displays he is then singled out for criticism by the Gaffer, I feel this is unjust and it would not surprise me to see Nissa move on either and that is concerning me as these 2 players are IMO a couple of the better players in the squad.

Hume and Nissa moving in the transfer window would be awful. That means we have only Dublin as backup centre back, and Hume is our best striker IMO. As for Gilbert, we had better get most of our money back

What is the deal with Hume? I know he's not started the last 2 but that doesn't necessarily mean there is a problem between him and CL.

Oh and Kisnorbo is far from adequate, I've never been as angry as a LCFC fan as when he was given the armband on Tuesday.

We don't know the full reason why the manager said what he did.

If the manager had repeatedly given him instructions on how he was supposed to be playing, but he ignored this and did his own thing, it would be a good enough reason for the manager to get rid of him. It's difficult to come to a definite conclusion without knowing all the facts.

Fair point webbo, but if there is dissent from within the ranks, is this not the first signs that Levein is starting to lose the dressing room, there seems to be a number of players who are currently out of favour, it is beginning to follow the same path as Micky Adams last season, with his high profile fall outs.

I think craig wont be given the rest of the season if things dont improve, some good points have been raised, here are my main worries.

1 - Connoly wasnt replaced. Hume was a gamble along with elvis, but elvis wasnt worth a penny until he got goals in the bag, I had no problem with a loan but ppying 350k for him was just stupid and done purely for PR reasons to make out we signed 2 strikers.
2 - Walker leaving for douglas, walker would have probably been one of the top 3 goalkeepers in this division having spent most of his career in the premiership. If he offered a reduce wage is true I am even more baffled.
3 - Gilbert for jordan, this seems to be proving a mistake, what annoyed me so much with this is we got too little for jordan and paid too much for gilbert. Who was responsible for scouting him out?
4 - Johannsen fallout, this guy has premiership experience and with gilbert leaving and dublin near the end of his time I think he should work on fixing the bridge.
5 - Tactics. I can understand defensive away to wolves, but home to 10 men and when playing the likes of crewe we need to be pushing for wins, 1 win and 2 defeats beats 2 draws and 1 defeat, and the more home games we fail to win the less money there is from reduced attendances. He also needs to drop douglas.
