i have many A levels in history and politics.

My judgement is that all the parties are toss, non of them will make everyone happy, so we might as well revolt and smash the country up.

That Churchill bloke - he didn't have any A-levels. Knew sod all about politics. And don't get me started on Disraeli.

I've got one in physics, which is more than that Stephen Hawking has. I should have his job.

John Prescott left school at 15 with no qualifications whatsoever, but ended up as Deputy Prime Minister

Studying politics from a book means precisely shit

What kind of person gets to 18 and says they have finished learning? Obviously I do have more to learn.

I was just astonished by your arrogance, & naivety, that because you've done an A level in politics that you would automatically be more knowledgeable than somebody who hasn't.

Yes it does, because I've just spent 2 almost everyday for 2 years learning about it:icon_roll

That's laughable and incredible naive. For starters, an A-Level in Politics is faff all when History A-Level's cover most it. THere is a good section of the cabinet that haven't a qualification in Politics but you know more than them apparently.

My mate is doing an English degree but is actively involved in the Socialist Party. I bet he knows feck all because he decided to do English instead of Politics.

he may be more knowledgable on political theory rules and practices but no more so then anyone on real politics.

Exactly, although it depends on what your terming as 'real politics'. IN my experience I find it easier to understand 'real politics' when you know whats going on behind the scenes.

im sorry but thats bollocks-in the course of history i did (US/UK 1900-1997) i did **** all about Marxism, Anarchism, Feminism, or Nationalismyet learnt about them A2 politics-yes it does overlap to a certain extent but there is a whole module in A level politics which you don't do in history. Also there are different parts to certain subject areas which you may cover in both courses-ie you do the history of conservative political thought and the modern conservative party in politics-yet only about the party itself in history-obviously this may be only because of the history course i took, but having done them both at A Level i feel i im entitled to comment on your post.

and i'm not claiming to know more then anyone else or be more articulate then anyone else in the subject of politics-i just enjoy studying thats all.

This site is a ****ing joke. Can't say a thing without being lampooned from one side or another. Can't express an opinion without having to defend it for the next 20 mins. The Lcfc forum is full of 'inside jokes' which might make it interesting for some but boring for most.

I'm not trying to say I know everything about politics. If I had studied history for the last two years then I would say that I know more about history than someone who hasn't done any history. If I had done physics I would say I know more about Physics than someone who hasn't studied it. For Christ sake get over it. Even if I am the most condescending person you have ever read the post of - so what? Don't read them then, its your choice.

obviously this may be only because of the history course i took

That would be the case I had to do 20th Century Britain and basically covered all the PMs and etc. We also did the likes of Eastern European History which looked at the various regimes of Tito (Nationalism) and the like and then, also Middle Eastern and Vietnam.

Our extended study had to be about UK 20th Century and most of that was politics based.

However, I bloody should have said in hindsight that doing a History A-Level covers a fair bit of British Politics.

Anyways, I feel Politics A-Level has as much clout as a Media Studies A-Level.

..

Lampooned??? I thought it was called debate.

Jeez, you wouldn't last 5 minutes in politics.
