Hughes poised for Hearts transfer

Hughes could make his Hearts debut against Gretna at Tynecastle
Hearts are on the verge of signing midfielder Stephen Hughes from Leicester City, BBC Sport understands.
The 24-year-old had a medical on Thursday evening and could make his debut for the Edinburgh club against Gretna at Tynecastle on Saturday.

Hughes, who joined the Foxes from Rangers in January 2005, was placed on the transfer list in May.

The player was unwilling to move back to Scotland last month, but appears to have had a change of heart.

The English Championship club had accepted £50,000 offers from Hearts and Motherwell last month, but the player failed to agree personal terms on a move.

Hearts have rekindled their interest and a move is expected to be completed in time for him to play against Gretna.
