I was there, but I wasn't anywhere near as impressed as many of the other posts I've read so far.

Newton got tackled every time he was on the ball in the first half, which was pretty disappointing considering the standard he was playing against.

MdV looked faster but he still didn't see to have much of a touch. I thought it was slightly bizzar that he celebrated as if he had just scored when Hume scored.

In the second half most of the possession was Hinkley's!:018::018:

Clemence looked anonymous to me, and N'gotty had a poor touch.

I cerintally didn't come away impressed with the performance against a team who in reality we should have cruised it against. For example look how bad last years team was, yet they managed to slot 5 home.

All that said I won't be taking too much away from this match because last year Josh Low looked superb against Hinkely:eek:

I thought it was a decent run out, not much more than that.

I was particularly impressed with Chambers who I thought looked very bright and quick. I also thought Sheehan did well at left back. Hume and Hayes looked good and seemed to me to have a bit of an understanding of each other. And I can't belive I'm saying this but I thought DeVries looked like a different player, so much so that my mate thought that it was Carl Cort for the entire first half!

Wasn't so impressed with N'Gotty who I thought looked a bit slack and Newton (again) didn't look too clever either.

But it was a good chance to see some of the players and the youth lads too (MA sent on three of 'em on near the end) and I enjoyed the game.

It was a 'Marston's Stadium' record, not a club record. 3079 I think it was.

Saw Rich, Drew, and Newts - sorry I couldn't speak much earlier Drew/Newts, was a bit busy...... :icon_wink

I saw you as well, on car park duty.

I know people have said Hayes looked good, but did he look out of place on the left as I thought he was a right winger?

I wouldnt say so, he was using his left foot whenever I made a point of looking although he did tend to cut inside but generally not until a few yards from the line. He looked good tbh.
