Holding Midfielder

why has everyone chosen a midfielder who cant tackle to save his life as a defensive midfielder and last line od defence before the centre backs. surely weso would play there?

weso is a bit too young for that role i feel and need a good passer to get out of trouble

Becks is a better passer than Makelele (sp?), I know which one I would rather have as a holding midfielder for city. Weso has to be the top choice for holding midfielder, surely?

Fact is they're not going to go through a whole season (or even most matches) on the same 4 midfielders. Injuries, suspensions, tactical changes mean a minimum of 6, and they'll need to be able to interchange to some degree.

Which is my biggest concern - how adaptable are they? Not very from what we have seen. And none of them has been able to demonstrate they can really play wide (unless Sylla undergoes a re-birth), which is an option that is essential.

For me the holding midfielder has to be Weso, if he is not fit then based on the current squad we would be found wanting, with both Maybury and Tiatto (if he stays, which I seriously doubt) IMO too ill disciplined to play that role, we have to sign a player capable of playing that position, if we are to stand any chance of improving.
