A few lads from my football team are looking at going to the races for someone's birthday.

IWe can go any time in April. We're looking for a course that is

a) fairly decent
b) close to somewhere with a decent nightlife (ie a city)

any ideas? (Ascot may be a little too pricey on the day of the Grand National!)

Is the grand national moved for this year then?

Cheltenham is pretty good. Not too far to go and a good student base in the town for the nighttime.

Sandown is a good day out and the Gold Cup is April 25th, I've been twice

you can go out in London or somewhere out west of London

I've no idea when it is but that was mentioned as a possibility.

Grand national is in April if i remember correctly.

Yep Cheltenham is a good place to go. I'll be there on the thursday of the cheltenham festival. I always find that day better than the actual gold cup day. Its busy but at least you can move about compared to the friday.

other than that York isn't bad and neither are any of the london courses. Utoxetter is quite near to Stoke too which can be an ok night out.

Avoid places like towcester and any of the east anglian courses

Grand national is in April if i remember correctly.

Yep Cheltenham is a good place to go. I'll be there on the thursday of the cheltenham festival. I always find that day better than the actual gold cup day. Its busy but at least you can move about compared to the friday.

i actually think Leicester is an alrite course. Some will moan that it aint but i enjoy it when i go.

Sandown is a good shout as previosuly mentioned.

One we have done a couple of times is Wetherby race course and Chesterfield for the night out on the way back. Depends if you have a coach or not.
