Mentally and emotionally exhausted. A month or so ago I finally managed to move down to devon to be with the Mrs and little boy who had moved with her job some 8 months earlier. I am working as a waitress in a cocktail bar..... sorry drifted off there, I am working in a bar, and I had worked out if I worked 30 hours a week I could still pay for the upkeep of my house in Nottingham untill it sells (I would rent it, but thats a long story to rival on of Mr G's posts!). I was promised 30+ hours a week at the bar, so made the move and here I am. So far however im averaging 14 hours and my stress levels are rising worrying how I can afford everything, I dont get stressed easily so thats stressfull in itself. A week into the move I get an offer on the house which is accepted, thank god! Things are looking up, the sale has however stalled as my ex-wife is on the mortgage and unless she agrees to the sale it goes nowhere and she is taking an age with the paper work, stress levels on the up! 3 weeks into the move I find out my Mum has cancer, only mild and they think it has been caught early, but a sickening shock none the less. An operation is needed and radiotheropy. Week 4 I get married, finally a bit of light to break up the gloom (feel free to insert sarcastic comment here). Week 5 and my Mrs gets taken into hospital with abdominal pains, she is there for a week. It is now week 6, the Mrs came out of hospital on Tuesday, better but not 100%, my Mum went in on Wednesday for her operation and she came out today, the op was successful and the radiotheropy starts in a few weeks.

As drained as I am tho, its not half of what my Mum will and is going through. I am just gratefull they are both ok.

Not the new start I was expecting!

What a tumultuous time! So pleased you caught the cancer early, it really does make the difference.

Deliriously happy after seeing a 'pop-up' on my TV. Knew there was a good reason for staying with Virgin other than the fast broadband. BT Sport 1, BT Sport 2 and ESPN at no extra cost and every channel in glorious HD. Result :icon_bigg

no more work until September 5th... and a week in Crete to look forward to, starting on Tuesday :icon_razz

Back to work on Monday after three weeks off expecting a lot of this;

Crete is fantastic. Where are you staying?

Small, quiet place called Agia Pelagia (probably spelt wrong)
Think you've got it right :icon_wink. Close to Heraklion? Never been to that part of Crete myself. Mostly been on the western side. You should visit Knossos then. (Or just stay on the beach and in the restaurants eating a lot of youghurt with honey and drinking a lot of Mythos)

Crete is great. Though I do shudder with shame at some of the pubs/restaurants advertising things to satisfy classy Brits - "English Breakfast (with RICHMOND SAUSAGES)" was a particular favourite.

Yes that's the one. Am liking the sound of yoghurt and honey with plentiful Mythos :)

I fully intend to avoid places like that (if indeed it exists in this little place)

Maybe not in combination though :icon_wink

Good idea... probably more Mythos I'd imagine ;)

Vomit, couple shagging, screaming babies, out of control children, rude chavs, people trying to claim your reserved seat, drunk yoot causing mayhem...

Why don't I use the train more often?

How did you manage to do all that on a train ride? And starting with vomitting?
