Because I'm not a woman who is used to having a list of podcasts stored on the phone ready to listen to, saving the point in the last podcast where it was stopped ready to start next time.

You do surprise me. :)

I like this phone. I like it a lot.

I'd say it's better than mine except for the crappy app store selection. Battery life seems worse than the iPhone4 too...although that might be me playing with it so much.

I love being able to see the video clips on the BBC website, Apple have to adopt Flash.

Use the BBC news app and iplayer if you want to watch BBC vids on your iPhone.

Switching the wi-fi to sleep after 15 mins idle and a few other small tweaks will probably get a decent battery life, I know that my Desire battery last seriously longer than Lisa's 3GS (I mean at least a day longer).

Turn off Google backup or whatever it is called, that will get you an extra half day battery life. Turn off GPS until you need it and Wifi unless you are in an area. Also put the screen on auto brightness. There is a widget called Power Control hat allows you to do all this on the homescreen easily

Turning off google backup didn't gain me much battery life so I've left it on, wifi auto sleep after 15 mins is easier and saves almost as much battery as turning wifi off totally and as far as I can see GPS only takes power occasionally. I guess it depends how much you time you want to spend managing connections yourself.
