These tactics and set piece routines will have been worked upon over the pre season period and probably looked like it would bring success, however when implemented in a real match situation they havent quite come off, the problem being with games coming thick and fast in opening 3 weeks of the campaign there will have been little opportunity to readdress this on the training pitch.
What the international break will give, is Levein and his staff quality time on the training ground to iron out the set plays and the areas where we have struggled over the previous 7 matches. It will also allow some reflection time on what has been successful and what hasnt in these opening matches and hopefully we will see a big improvement in the pattern of the team and our set play routines both defensively and attacking. Many of the new players are still bedding in and getting used to the style and individual roles and responsiblities demanded by the manager. CL stated he wanted all transfer activity concluded prior to pre season, this would enable him to maximise the time on the training pitch with the new players to prepare for the new season and the pattern of play, as we all know for a variety of different reasons this did not happen as planned and therefore a number of players were signed a lot later than anticipated thus reducing preperation time, this has meant some of our play has been disjointed and a little inconsistent. This should improve greatly as the players become accustomed to the pattern and tactics implemented.
