If we were top of the league having won all our games and conners had been the only scorer I would understand all the panic but as has been said its not like he ahs been keeping the team going alone.

DONT PANICyet

I've just been speaking to a Sheff Wed fan here in the office who reckons Hume is a cracking buy and he thinks he will shine in this league; he knows his football, so I am very optimistic he will do the business :023:

And I agree - I've seen this lad a fair few times and he's always shone, albeit in an inferior league, but nevertheless. We haven't lost Maradona here you know!

from another forum:

Absolutely gutted!

You've got a player there who has the potential to do what Nugent at Preston has done so far in the Championship. He'll do very well for your lot providing you play him right!

He's got lightning pace, very good skills and scores the odd screamer from 25 yards or so

Iain is the youngest player to ever player for Tranmere Rovers FC,at 16 years old and 167 days Hume beat Dixie Dean's record by 192 days in 2000!

Finished our top scorer last season with 17 goals in all comps, and scored 15 the previous season. He's loved by all Tranmere fans with his great work rate and never gives up.Iain will be 22 soon and is a great loss to Rovers!

Fantastic goals,Fantastic skill,Fantastic work ethic Iain has got alot in his game. He's also suprising good in the air for someone whos only 5 ft 7!

My favourite goal from Iain?

Bolton 1 Tranmere 2 in 2003-4!

We were 1-0 up through Eugene Dadi and Bolton cruely scored in the last seconds to claim extra time. Not to be outdone,Iain picked up the ball...10 seconds into extra time on the half way line, took on 2-3 player before unleasing a left footed(his weaker foot),35 yards out into the top corner of Boltons's goal

Iain won't be forgotten,he was loyal and very committed and i'll miss him alot. He's easily good enough for the Championship, goodluck Iain you deserve this chance!

It's 500,000 upfront with 250,000 if he gets you promotion and a 10% sell on clause, even if you get promoted 750,000 will still be cheap!

Great player you've got there, goodluck to the Foxes and best of luck to Iain!

You have got yourselves a quality player here. I am devastated. Our best 2 players have been sold off over the summer. He will do well for you. I have no doubts. He is fast, hardworking and scores some cracking goals. Good luck to the lad.

What a disgrace our board are. We sell off all our best players and replace them with utter crap bar greenacre. Apparently money is tight as well. What a joke. Leicester have got themselves a bargain. I am so annoyed right now its beyond belief. League one teams need not worry no more. We have no ambition what so ever to get out of this league. We get rid of hume and sign carthorse facey. We also have another OAP training with us. Nicky summerbee. It cant get any worse.

and from a Preston fan:

Derek Shaw has just admitted we did put a bid in but 'blown out of the water' with Leicesters bid. Would quite like to have seen him in the White of PNE.

does he actually play up front or is he a winger or someone to play in the "hole"

We swapped an attacker for an attacking midfielder and people wonder why I am cranky.

He plays Centre Forward for Tranmere Steven trust me.

he WAS a winger but was converted to striker.

Not a bad thing to be, can't the same be said for players like Heskey and Lineker as well? Started off on the wing. A lot of strikers seem to be at the start of their career as on the wing is less high-pressure than starting up front but it still gives them first team experience, like centre-backs starting off as fullbacks.

Finally we have someone with a decent Cross on him...

And don't tell me Steven...he's not a proper Cardinal he's just an attacking Bishop.

small/hard working/aggresive....remind you of someone else we used to know?
(lets hope he's not a complete knob jockey too!)

Think he'll be a great signing.

I know i'll get some stick for this..but i think Cresswell would have been a great signing. Great in the air in attack and defence(bloody corners!) and a good finisher at this level.
