It was pretty clear after about 20 mins that Cort was not fit but equally the best starting option. The blue mongies wouldn't spot this though. I'm now convinced that there is a good percentage that go down there to have a moan and enjoy the loss, why they don't stay at home is beyond me.

Having visited the Walkers for the first time against Cardiff, i've got to admit the atmosphere and noise generated was shite!

Filbert St seemed to hold the noise in better and echo it through the stands rather than displace the noise as it seemed to at the Walkers.

The fans, therefore should make more noise to generate a good atmosphere that:

1) Creates a positive vibe for our players

and

2) Is unwelcoming and hostile for the opposition.

This unquestionably would result in creating the right environment for LCFC to win more games than it loses.

Booing cannot be positive any any form if aimed at our own players no matter what the circumstances...

The idea that Carl Cort is the only semi-fit striker available to partner Hume is not true. We are helping Leeds of all clubs by lending them De Fries. I am not pretending that De Fries is worth a regular place or a long term answer. I do, however, maintain that this season De Fries has been better than Carl Cort.

The Walkers has a touch of doom about it. Four or five years and still hardly any decent memories to build on. Its become a place we are associating with failure.
I dont make it down much these days but on the occasions that i do, the lack of passion in the ground is very noticeable considering the attendances have been around 22000+. Its almost like total apathy as envoloped the supporters and they dont believe anything good will happen anymore. We had plenty of shit seasons at Filbert Street, but also some fantastic times as well. Some of those old grounds like Filbo seemed to have had their own unique atmosphere, something thats sadly missing from the stadia of today. Its not just Leicester, there are plenty of decent grounds now but the character and passion as died at a lot of them imo. Maybe its the all seater v standing argument

MON never forgot the attitude of the fans at that infamous Sheff Utd match.

If were not careful it could happen again. We have to give IH time to settle in. It's going to take him 6 to 10 games before he has stamped his mark on the team, bought in new players he can work with and got rid of those he can't. At the moment he has to work with the tools he has inherited. And he needs us to give them our best support.

It's not rocket science.

Perfection in a post....

I don't think it's just down to the design of modern stadia, the crowd itself is made up of very different people to the type of crowds that were attending Filbert street in the *70s & 80s, the change began in the late 90s imo.

*and before then, I know, but I wasn't there before the 70s

Ollie speaks the truth and the so called fans who moaned have a problem with him.........Ollie carry on doing what you are doing....The moaning Basatrds may leave us alone

I don't think it's as clear cut as that chilly fox, I wouldn't boo any City player in a million years but I can see why sections of the crowd would, based on the dross that's being served up to supporters that have parted with their hard earned & have been consistently disappointed despite all the false dawns.

These idiots need to get it into there heads that abuse will only make things worse, a few of us seemed to have grasped it.

I think people should have the right to say what they like, but that doesn't automatically make what they are saying acceptable.

I agree with you BS, but the question is 'Ian Holloway right or wrong?'.
IMO he was wrong to heap the blame on our supporters when only a section are to blame, & have understandable grievance no matter how counterproductive.

Well I think Holloway made a good point. I think the problem is that some people think it's terribly funny to boo their own players after a few blue pints and a double mongie scotch or two. In fact at that point they probably don't know who they're booing and why. Or where they are. And they wake up in the morning thinking they've had a great night because they've got a sore ass and there's a five quid note on the pillow. Come to think of it this deserves a whole new thread. Okay, I better shut up now. :icon_cool

Filbert Street was all seater when it produced some of the fine memories of which you write.

Yeah, these days there are not so many flat caps or scarves tied around wrists in a provocative manner.

But the biggest change IMO is that it is no longer the sport of the working man.

I think that IH was right, I have never booed one of our own and never will - it's simply not constructive. At home, it just intimidates the players - just look at Barton's comments re Newcastle at the weekend, and they're home record is as dour as ours.

Where IH probably made a mistake was in playing Cort at all. If he wasn't 100% why bother? Sappleton has been banging them in for the reserves and he'll be full of energy and enthusiasm - he should have played. A great example would be Anichebe (excuse the spelling) at Everton.

It's a non-issue; almost irrelevant.

The fans who moan are just reflecting the state of things on the pitch.

When the playing side improves, there will be less moaners.

People who kid themselves that less moaning will in itself bring about an improvement are just deluded - in my opinion.

Olly keeps banging on about looking after the players, being a father figure, giving them support etc. Well what do some of the fringe players think when a less than 100% fit player (much less than 100%) is picked ahead of them?

I dont think you can blame a stadium on the atmosphere. This is generated by performance.Although i must agree it was far more electric in those halcyon days of the past.
You must understand Brauny those days have gone and gone for good. It is over 25 years ago when the support was a standing, working class, all male dominated environment. The place was falling down around your ears you risked drowning in a sea of urine when going to the toilet. You had to be on your guard that the stand you were in wasnt invaded by Chelsea fans.
Today's modern all seater game is a much more sterile environment. The faces in the kop are that of elderly ladies and young children who dont make as much noise. If the current standard of play was to improve and the crowd actually developed an affinity with the players (who stayed for longer than a season) then maybe it would improve to a degree but it will never be like it was.

I agree to an extent but its a self fulfilling prophecy.

If you boo, its only going to make things worse, if you cheer/support/encourage then it might not make a jot of difference but it certainly won't hinder.
