I dont understand how you can put Megson in the same class as Peter Taylor. He was barely here, and results were hardly catastrophic (w3 d4 l2)-he just didn't have us playing attractive football.

Plus can you blame Megson for leaving? No-one wanted him, he inherited a load of shite players and got offered a job in the Prem with a team that suited him.

That's not really a bad record considering N'Gotty played in every game.

Excellent post, some good points there, but I have to point this out, even though it will lead to the usual accusations of unnecessary pedantry. Adams has never spelled his first name with an 'e'. I've told you this before. Just... stop it.

Can I just pop in to say it is McLintock, not McClintock. I don't expect Maniac is old enough to know that.

Not old enough to have seen his team, but sufficiently educated to know that one and should have picked up on it. But he's been told about the Adams one before and it's irritating :icon_lol:

Some real bollocks spouted in this thread regarding Holloway, he was so tactically inept that anyone calling him talented cannot be taken too seriously on any level.

One of the many engaging things about Blue Meniuc is how easily he gets irritated by spelling. If the registrar left the "e" out of Mickey he should not have.

It is good to have such pedantry on the forum as it hopefully means that someone can tell me something that has always intrigued me - why Dany has an apostrophe in his surname.

That's deliberate :icon_lol:

I don't think the registrar was involved, I'm fairly sure he's a Michael.

It shouldn't really.

The reason I put Megson in the same class as Peter Taylor was that they both IMO damaged Leicester. I would agree that they did so in very different ways.

Peter Taylor was the usual kind of "bad manager". His judgement in the transfer market was dreadful and he was a poor motivator. These are obviously football faults. I have nothing against him as a man. He did his best and that was not good enough. So far as I know he always behaved with integrity.

Gary Megson's situation was different. He was brought into a club that desperately needed stability after Martin Allen. Although he may not have had a written contract he would have given his word. To walk out the way that he did made an unstable situation worse. I do not regard him as being a bad manager in general but I regard his behaviour here as putting the club in crisis.

Megson accepted the job and when a "better" job came up walked out on us. It is when keeping your word is inconvenient that you are most obliged to keep it.

The bloke compared our relagation to his kids being deaf in the sense that it is all about 'perspective'................I personally thought that to be pathetic and he can go **** himself, and the rest of blackpool and all its syphillis ridden whores

"All its syphillis ridden whores" - I envy your stamina if not your judgement.
It must have been an unforgetable experience.

Perspective is important. Bill Shankly famously said "Some people think football is a matter of life and death. I assure you, it's much more serious than that." This has always seemed to me a very silly comment. Since Shankly was not a silly man I do not think he meant it seriously.

I cannot believe Fitz really believes that Leicester being relegated compares with a daughter being born deaf.

Time is a great healer. I don't remember many conciliatory remarks about Holloway as he took us down playing rubbish stiff. No personal animosity but he failed big time and I hate his failure and how it made me and many others feel at the time.

He is also ugly.

I can assure you I don't, it infuriates me that IH would make the comparison. Just feel it was a pathetic attempt by him to gain some sympathy
