Carlos Corberan is favourite in the Leicester Mercury

I am confused. Is he gone?

The guardian are reporting he’s finalised his first signing which is impressive considering he’s not actually moved then.

I didn't see that bit. But I read a report that says "Maresca is due to be announced as Chelsea’s new head coach soon. The club’s lawyers are working to finalise paperwork for the 44-year-old and his backroom staff."

I knew it was the lawyers holding it up.
“Backroom staff”
If reports are to be believed that he wants 10 elite coaches, then he will need a big Frontroom, rather than a backroom.

Potter holding out for the England job apparently. (Mind you, this was in The Sun)

"Close pals say Potter would take the Old Trafford post if asked."

Yeh no shit, Sherlock. As if he wouldn't take the job at one of the world's biggest football institutions.

He's a decent manager but not much else. As far as top leagues go, he did well in one season at Brighton. Once. One year.

That year Brighton finished 9th with 51 points. Last year Fulham finished 10th on 52 points. This season WHU finished 9th on 52. He did well that year, but it's a routine "well."

If he wasn't English, there's no way he'd be wanked over as much because of one top half finish. The seasons before they were 15th and 16th.

Potter is not the answer.
Wengardium leviosaa....EXPELLIARMUS!!!

Good job he won't get asked.🤣

Serious question: with a fifteen point deduction being talked about - not necessarily the punishment that will come our way but, the threat hanging over us - why would any established manager want to be facing a season without the club's top players and that sort of a deficit?

It seems to me, that the FA have shafted us, whatever the outcome. Even in the unlikely event that we are completely exonerated, the threat will have ruined our season.

I’d be astonished if it was 10-15 points.

1. There is precedent for what is appropriate.
2. You can’t sanction us for being ‘uncoorperative’ in challenging and succeeding in challenging something that wasn’t right.
3. (And this won’t remotely factor into a decision but it ****ing should) Clubs like Chelsea (no doubt there are others - after Enzo’s decision, theirs were the only accounts I considered) have filed accounts showing loss of over £200m more than us over the past 3 seasons. Apply the rules evenly and we might have a fair competition.

By all means apply 15, but we’ll see you back in court and we’ll win.

The Athletic reporting it a done deal:

Enzo Maresca has put pen to paper on a long-term contract ahead of being confirmed as Chelsea’s new head coach.

The Italian moves to Stamford Bridge on a five-year deal, which includes a club-held option to extend by 12 months.

Maresca will be bringing six of his own staff — Willy Caballero, Danny Walker, Michele De Bernardin, Marcos Alvarez, Javier Molina Caballero and Roberto Vitiello.

They will be integrated with Chelsea specialists such as Ben Roberts, Hilario and Bernardo Cueva.

An agreement between Chelsea and Leicester was also signed on Sunday, settling on compensation in the region of £10million.

Chelsea are said to be sensitive to the disruption caused to Leicester ahead of their return to the Premier League and appreciative of the class and professionalism they displayed throughout.

An announcement on Maresca’s appointment is expected on Monday and he will be presented to the media later in the week.

When this first broke I was shrugging my shoulders a bit, very much in the “he’d be gone by Christmas anyway” camp.

But the longer it’s gone on the more disappointed I’ve got at not seeing what he was building here in action in the PL, at the fact we’ve got these players used to a system which will now get replaced by someone else’s approach, and at the rebuild and chaos it will cause us at a time we should be acting early and signing players up.

And most of all the uncertainty of who comes next.

I guess he’s got what he wanted from us.

Of course.

The Pep acolytes are going to be walking into the top jobs for the next decade. Just look at Kompany, strolling into one of the top jobs in europe on the back of achieving hardly anything at all. Football club owners are the most easily twatdazzled collective of morons in human history.
FFS, Bayern even had the actual Pep a few years back & he came & went without any noticable effect. They won the CL both before AND after him. But not while he was there.

I guess they're working on the theory that this season has been so shit next year couldn't be worse whoever got the job so may as well take a punt.

We, along with everyone else, are going to have to do what we did before, take a different route , be disruptive & not try to compete on the same terms in the same way. We tried that & look what happened.

Consolidate & pick up the pieces. Even in the face of constant structural & rule changes designed to favour the big clubs more & more every year.

Wait for the Super League.

But now we can play two systems. Enzo’s 200 passes and 60 minutes to score a goal, or our tried and trusted hoof it up to Vardy, and BANG, a goal in 30 seconds!
