Raw, hard, leader, strong, quick(ish), determined, decent(ish) feet - That to me sums up a good prospect who I think will become a really good player

As he got the first goal at Brighton last year at 50-1 I can answer this only one way!:icon_lol:

**** me, RS - that's not a good enough reason! If it was, I'd be thinking McSheffery was God after I had him to score first in a 2-1 win for City against Cov!

& I had an Ayrton on Cameroon to beat Argentina in the 1st game of the 1990 World Cup at 13-1. By this reckoning, they are the best team in the world

The two Paddys are a good combination. I think they both give the team something. At the moment Paddy K provides a bit of class and Paddy M provides the commitment and raw aggression that makes him popular with the fans. They can both improve and I think Paddy M has the capabilities to be one of the best in the game.

I find it odd that I'm the first to say this (on this thread anyway): McCarthy shows the same promise, the same strengths, and, very obviously the same weaknesses that a certain S Walsh showed at a similar stage in his career. And even he wasn't nailed on to be of Premiership standard when we first went up under Little. Walshy just got better and better, and by the time we went up under MON he was about ready - what, 4-5 years after his debut?
I'm not saying we can hope for the same from Paddy, but he's worth waitning on.

You must have missed post #17

Not the finished article at the moment, similar to Walshie when he started here, (makes the odd mistake and gets booked alot) but good prospect and if he serves the club half as well as Walshie then he will do

Couldn't agree more. I think some people forget that some things do get better with age.

This thread is dumb. Why McCarthy? Why pick on one of the few who gives 110%?

You could start this thread about most anyone in the first team currently. Are any of them 'any good'? Personally I would take 100% commitment and willingness to learn over some cocky Johnny-come-lately with a bit of talent.

When the sh*t is down people like McCarthy stand and fight. I want players like that at our club.

Well said. Couldn't have put that better myself
