If he’s out for a long time, there is definitely a chance he will put some weight on. Pereira still looks fit and slim though, so there is hope.

My brother did his ACL and spent nearly 9 months walking round on it (after several misdiagnosis). In the end it was so bad that the first specialist didn't feel capable of doing the work and referred him on. Ended up having the same surgeon as Ricardo, who by all accounts is excellent.
As others have said, walking round and putting weight on it doesn't mean much - but I'm sure the medical team would have given BR an update before he went on air.
