As well as Lanxfox jnr, I'm really pleased too. It would be great if Schlupp turns out to be in the Marvin Sordell-mould and is actually good enough to play for Leicester City.

I mean that as opposed to people like Chris O'Grady, Tommy Wright, James Wesolowski and Alan Sheehan, who are good enough to be professional footballers, but not good enoguh to play for Leicester City.

one nil down, two one up
you're going down, thanks to the Schlupp

He came dancing across the water
Jeff Schlupp, Jeff Schlupp

I Thought Wesolowski made a decent contribution to the club.

He kind of did at the time, but he wouldn't get into our side now would he? Sometimes he doesn't even start for Peterborough. Ultimately, he is still an example of someone who came from the academy, featured for the first team, but wasn't really good enough. Although perhaps if he'd been less plagued by injuries that would not be the case.

I also fell for Wright, Wesolowski, Steve Holden, Eustace, Wilson, Campbell, Neil Lewis, O'Grady, Sheehan, Reeves, Stevenson, Danny Thomas, Jordan Stewart, Williamson etc. Maybe they didn't get enough football at the right time, maybe they were too slow, too physically weak, not sure.

In the case of Wesolowski, is it possible that the Balde challenge screwed up his development at a crucial stage? Seems to me that when a young player gets a lot of first team football at the right stage, when their confidence is high, it can take them to a level they don't necessarily deserve to achieve. Look at the heights Mattock and Stearman temporarily reached.

Stewart and Lewis weren't bad players for us at all really. The others you mentioned sunk like a rock, but Stewart especially carved out a decent career for himself and played in the premier league.

As for Lewis, I was 12 or so when he first emerged and I loved watching him play as a kid. He used to mak people fall over in front of him and early on he looked every bit as talented as Joachim. But yes, I'm aware he didn't do much after that early spell and slid out of sight quite quickly.

I was a big fan of Jordan Stewart, felt he got a lot of undeserved criticism when he was here. I was disappointed when he left.

Be nice for Schlupp to get a chance if Sven rates him and thinks he's ready for it. Always good to see players coming through the academy.

Jordan - - > Stewart - - > Skoda?

He's obviously slowing down as the years advance.

Re: Jeff Schulpp

He hasn't spotted anything, yet.

Being called in to the first team does not mean he has potential. Players like Sam McMahon and Stuart Wilson turned out several times for the first team and then a few years later were considered not good enough for Hinckley and Nuneaton.

My dad, who only catches the odd City match on TV, saw Ashley Chambers against Cardiff a few years ago and is still asking me if he's the big star yet. He's still certain we'll sell him for more than Heskey went for :icon_bigg

Being caled to the first team by possibly one of the greatest managers of all time*
