As people have mentioned, I think it was largely tactical rather than Pearson not believing in him.

Him and Waghorn our joint goal threat = complete pile of shit

Enough has been seen of Waghorn to know that he is not a striker. Unfortunately in spite of his other qualities - Pearson is not a quick learner.

Years ago it was the pattern that non=scoring/ mis-firing "forwards" like Waghorn got converted into playing in another position (if they were lucky).

Might be worth considering. It's not his fault that we paid silly money for him. To be honest tho' I think he should have been moved on before now.
