If it is DOF, then it would have to be Grayson or Ince rather than Jewell or Souness.

Perhaps Milan has as his main criteria that the next manager should be one where there is no danger of him being tapped by another club.
Joe Royle is knocking 60 and has had his day - this would be simply building a further fairly swift managerial change into the process when Royle can't deliver.
Joe Royle as a just possible DoF if a young and relatively inexperienced manager is appointed maybe if Milan wants to spend (waste) his money on such a post - but as a manager, just not the way forward in my opinion.
If we turn to Joe Royle as manager we might as well throw in the towel now. Absolutely no foresight whatsoever. I thought Megson was depressing but that would be a shocker.
We are a club in a rut. Any decent managers will be in a job and any who aren't won't want to come to us - I doubt. We need a relatively unproven manager from the lower leagues, who has the passion and drive to succeed.
Not sure why there is quite so much animosity towards Joe Royle - although I'll admit I would prefer a more imaginative appointment.
While at Ipswich he had a completely thankless task as player after player was groomed for the exit. Many managers would have taken them down I think.
I would prefer other managers, but IMO he is a better appointment than Megson and at least may try to attack more.
Fingers crossed it's as a DOF not a manager.
He's a nice bloke but he's past it and his tactics are prehistoric.Thats Royle I mean not Alex.
You saying I'm not nice?
Why are people happy for little to return to the club but Royal is old and past it.
We need the passion and desire of an up and coming manager, like MA2 without the baggage, could bring. A DOF would at least keep Milan off the manager's back and allow the manager to concenttrate on just running the first team! There is Gary Johnson at Bristol City, or Russell Slade at Yeovil, or Paul Ince at MK Dons, or even Mark Robins at Rotherham (for the Walshie factor) for instance.
Why would Gary Johnson leave Bristol City for us? I don't get that at all.
Medium term there is more chance of success here IMO. I think he could be persuaded and is probably the outstanding candidate for the job from this dvision.
