Leicester City plan ambitious Carew swoop

Fans FC understand Leicester City Football Club are planning an adventurous swoop for John Carew.

The 31-year-old is heading towards the end of his contract at Aston Villa, who are hoping to offload him in January rather than lose him for nothing in the summer.

A return to Turkish club Besiktas has been mooted over the past couple of months, but Sven Goran Eriksson is hoping to persuade the Norwegian to stay in England.

The former Manchester City coach is currently in charge of Leicester, where he is slowly going about building a side capable of securing promotion to the Premier League this season.

Eriksson hopes to land Carew for a knockdown price this month and will offer him a two-and-a-half year deal, with a non-promotion release clause for this summer.

Did Marky say a two and a half year deal.... ahem.

Maybe a change of club would help, but he could turn out to be an expensive flop.

I don't think we'd get value for money from him. He returns a goal every 3 games, which is ok, but I'd rather we got someone young and hungry with a similar strike rate rather than a 'final paychecker' - especially a famously lazy one.

A motivated 31 year old John Carew would take the micky out of this league. Perhaps Sven is the man to get the best out of him. On occasions last season his performances were superb. A real handful (and not in the Michael Morrison way!).
