We should aim to get knocked out in the 1st round.

as many teams will aim to do the same, i can see it being a case of who can deliberately score the most own goals to lose the game

Well if you look at all the teams in the draw, Hartlepool looks to be one of the toughest opposition. I fancy them to do well this year.

Last season I think they only missed relegation on the last day, and after an opening day win you have the money on them?

We wont put any effort in. NP has already dismissed the importance of cup competitions. All eyes on the lge, which imo is the way it should be this season.

"Exciting tussles as teams chase Johnstone's Paint Trophy glory and a cash bonanza"

Ha ha.

I think we should aim to win every game we play.
Agreed.

I hope this is the only time we enter the JPT. MK Dons managed to win the cup and the league last season - there's nothing to say you can't do well in more than one competition. I hope we win it and leave it with a 100% record.

That probably won't happen, but I can't see why any City fan would want otherwise.

my reason for not wanting to win the JPT is because the competition is worthless, no prize money, no qualification or promotion for anything. the league and FA cup gets you into europe, this cup is just a cup which is worth bugger all to clubs - the FA do very nicely out of it though

2005/06 was the only year that there has been no prize money in recent times. There is now prize money for reaching each and every stage. It is true that the amounts are small but will be found most welcome by the majority of the clubs in the competition.

I am aware of that Bob, I didn't mean no prize money at all as I suspected there would be a few quid, but not much is a better way to put it. Majority of clubs being the key phrase you have used there, I can't see many teams in our position who would want to risk losing players through injury by playing pointless games for a couple of quid if it could cost them points later on

The only thing I'm worried about is this draw makes it four away games on the trot. It's not good for my bank balance this month!(Well Ben's as he pays for the football)

I was tempted to go with it being less than £5 for a return to Hartlepool but as my last train would be 9pm thats scuppered the plan

You could always walk.:icon_wink

Bernie of the North or something, I could attempt to get a bus back but if there is extra time I'm screwed.....can't see the wench wanting to stop at a hotel in hartlepool at the last minute either

Worthless competition that is purely a distraction, if anyone thinks we have enough players to compete in the League, League Cup, FA Cup, JPT and potential playoffs then they have shit for brains.

I would hate to go to Wembley for this tin pot crap, it's pure mickey mouse stuff and not worth the potential problems it could cause us.
