So because the big premiership teams dont care about winning the League Cup they are all born losers.

What your saying makes no sense, maybe I just prioritise things, but of course because I want us to ensure promotion over some shitty mickey mouse cup I will have **** all in life.

Lets just hope we don't lose our right back in the 2nd round when the transfer windows closed hey, but it's obviously a competition worth risking promotion on.

As evidenced by the fact that the big four have won five out of the last eight finals, with little old Spurs, Boro and Blackburn taking the other three.

What a ridiculous thing to say.

Yeah, **** every single competition other than the league. Never mind the extra cash that we'll get, oh, and the extra gate money - we don't need that.

If we lose any player in those competitions we're gambling with promotion! If we'd pulled out of every competition last season we might have stayed up! :bang:

Well I've already made my hat and rosette for the final, so there

That's a winner for you.....

Yes of course, how could I be so ridiculous, the extra cash and massive gate reciepts we recieve from the lucrative JPT are massive, I must make a note to listen to people like you who obviously think about things before they post.

Although im not sure what the second part of your rant is trying to prove?

NP will just use this competition for bringing through young players and those needing match practice and in the early rounds will not risk any key player that has any slight injury. He is doing that more or less for League Cup so I can see him doing that for JPT and of course the FA Cup which for the first time we will take part in NOVEMBER

Isnt there a rule about how many regular players you have to put in a JPT team? AND how is regular worked out when we have so many new players anyway

Rule 7.3 from last year's competition:

Each Club shall play its full available strength in all matches. The Board will from time to time issue a policy as to what constitutes ‘full available strength’. Any Club failing to meet this requirement will be required to pay a fine of up to £5,000.

Edit: Having searched around "Full available strength" seems to mean that the team selected for each game must include the majority of the 11 players who have appeared in the first team most often during the season.

2005/06 was the only year that there has been no prize money in recent times. There is now prize money for reaching each and every stage. It is true that the amounts are small but will be found most welcome by the majority of the clubs in the competition.

Maybe we can win it and help to payoff N'Gotty's wages....Well worth it in my opinion.

The reason they couldn't care less about the league cup is because it does not hold the reputation of the FA Cup and the only reason for winning it is the Uefa cup qualification, something Man Utd etc. don't really need as they're in the Champions +3 league

What about Seaton Carew? That pair where the husband pretended that he had been drowned in his canoe won't be needing their place for a while - we could stay there.

didn't know you were my wench bob :icon_eek: i've got plenty dishes to do and I'm sure she'd appreciate the help

So what does the JPT hold for us?

The reason they couldn't care less is... oh, the big four have won five out of the last eight finals, as mentioned above. So they obviously care enough to win it.

And ask the next ten teams in the Prem if they'd like to win a trophy and qualify for Europe...

The big teams often put out weakened sides in the earlier rounds, but I doubt many, if any, put out teams they don't genuinely think are capable of winning each tie.

To me it seems like the people who take it least seriosuly are the fans, and in particular the media, who are only really interested in Man Utd and the Champions League anyway.

Is there really much value in qualifying for the UEFA Cup?

All I can see is coverage by minor terrestrial TV channels of sparsely attended matches played by under-strength sides which are generally boring and of sub-standard quality.

I suppose for the dedicated football manager with an eye to detailed planning of the MON ilk that it is a useful experience of a different type of football as hopefully part of a club'sbuild up for a future crack at the Champions League.

.

There's a bit of money in it - not just from the competition itself, but from sponsors who might be more inclined to invest in a club that is 'in europe' rather than one that isn't

It is a truly terrible competition, however - as evidenced by the success of the 'anti-football' played by Rangers last year
