What message would that have sent out to Kelly and the players, it would have been the ultimate message from the board that they expected failure and had little or no faith in RK in the long term, also what foundations for the future would Kelly lay knowing he only had a year.

That was exactly why he took it.

i can't find the quotes but i remember reading something along the lines of he's not stupid and knows it could all go wrong, being his first management job. he wouldn't want to stay if he was underperforming and wouldn't want to make life difficult if either party (he or the board) wanted to part company.

Obviously i'm wrong but i always thought a one year rolling contract was basicy a one-year deal that roles into another one at the renewal date as long of both parties are happy with the terms.

hence either party could decide it wasn't working after a year and walk away.

i'm sure i'm right, gonna do some searching

That would be a 'one year, renewable' contract - not the same thing at all.

it's just like month-to-month rolling contracts for players. It's basicly a one month deal that roles over into another month if he does well/wants to stay.

RK is realistic to know that a dismal season means he will be dismissed. Do well and chances are your wages go up, its about time football people had a look at the real world!!!

It might be more appropraite for City fans to have a look at the real world.

rolling/renewable mean the same thing if you ask me

Perhaps it would be better not to ask you then, because they are different things.

we'll see

I'm not sure what that is supposed to mean. How many more people do you need to tell you what a rolling contract is?

i get the difference

the renewable starts over at the end

do pay attention 007

Look, who on this earth is going to trust George bleeding Michael when it comes to contract law?!?

I say stop his rolling contract now and pay him off just before the transfer window opens, at least this way we will only have 8 months to pay and we won't risk him getting any more free Andy Johnsons

Not likely to happen, not least for teh reasons that Jeff and I have already discussed - even if it were a good idea.

It is a rolling contract - so every day it still has 12 months to run, therefore if RK was removed he would be due 12 months pay.

Theory of this type of contract is that a removal of the manager at any point in time is a known cost & can be budgeted for, where as longer fixed period contract may cost far more if things aren't working out.

For the manager, they know they have a year to find another job.
