From BBC Sport (http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/s/sheff_wed/5033646.stm)
Sheffield Wednesday are on the verge of their third close season signing with the capture of Crewe midfielder Kenny Lunt, reports BBC Radio Sheffield.
The 26-year-old has spent his entire career at Gresty Road making over 350 appearances and has just rejected a 10-year deal to stay with the club.

Lunt signed professional terms in July 1997 and was given his debut in the 1997-98 season against Swindon.

Wednesday have beaten off competition from Championship rivals Leicester.

Obviously a man of little ambition.

Let's move on!

Well said as a Leicester fan :038:

But the reality maybe slightly different :icon_conf :icon_wink

Agree with Boc, lets move on and hope that RK can build a squad that will make Lunt regret his decision at the end of next season.

Lets hope its not a sign of things to come that we fail to attract players in preference to teams like Sheff Wed. I can only assume he must be able to travel there easier from his home, surely cant be a football or financial reason, can it?

Had anybody actually heard of him before the press started talking about the possibility of City signing him? Did anybody actually suggest him as a target before then? What is he famous for? If he was any good, and I mean *really* any good, would he have been playing for Crewe for all those years?

He's just another average player at the end of his contract - and there are a few of them about. I am sure that we will manage without him and don't think we should shed a single tear.

Pains me to say it, but you are spot on there boc. Also, I don't recall anything even slightly official eminating from the club saying we were after him. Even if he did turn us down I doubt it would be to do with wages, maybe RK told him he would not be guaranteed a place in the team, and maybe SW said he would be there.. No great loss from my point of view. At the end of the day, if he didn't want to come here, then I bloody don't want him here.

Sheffield Wednesday have won the chase to sign Crewe Alexandra captain Kenny Lunt.

The 26-year-old has agreed a three-year contract with The Owls and will move on a free transfer subject to completing a medical.

Lunt had been offered a new deal to stay at Crewe, but has opted to end his association with his only club after Dario Gradi's men were relegated from The Championship.

A string of clubs were keen on the midfielder, with Wolves, Southampton, Leicester City and Crystal Palace all credited with an interest.

He admitted last week that he was tempted to sever ties with The Railwaymen after making over 400 appearances for the club.

With a deal to move to Hillsborough in place, Owls boss Paul Sturrock expressed delight at Lunt's signing.

"I am very pleased to have signed Kenny," Sturrock told the club's official website.

"He brings a different style of midfield play to the squad. I have watched him over the years and he has a great goalscoring average.

"I am looking forward to working with him."

Pains you to say that you agree with me??!!?? Now why would that be?

Couldn't give a flyer. Never heard of him before. We never signed him, and probably never will. Glad this rumour bollox can now stop

Have to admit whilst he would have been a decent signing, this certainly isn't the end of the world. Plenty more fish in the sea for our Rob to poach.
