ok, if you see their preseason and opening game at Blackpool (I'm a ST holder but will miss the first game) let us know if you identify improvements (or not!) concerning fitness/sharpness

I'm guessing here, but I don't think Martin Allen is the type to send out a team that are not fit - for that I will be grateful after watching us regularly get the runaround in the last ten minutes of games last season.

I think your assessments are absolutely right & there were rumours that Nigel Worthington found the team under-worked and under-trained, having too many days off etc. Hope Allen & his coaches & staff identify this.

Wortho said as much after only a few days. I get the impression he was horrified at the levels of fitness under Kelly.

There was also a rumour that Kelly had them doing mostly little passing triangles and the like in pre-season (which, worryingly, was what he'd learned to do on the FA coaching courses). That explains the lack of fitness, but it doesn't explain the fact that they couldn't fecking pass either! :icon_roll

I somehow imagine Allen's pre-season to be more in the Jock Wallace mold than the Rob Kelly one.... :icon_wink
