I think fox58 has a point, he will be at least the first reserve. Great hopes for him I think.

i think matthew boyce will open the batting with new to be honest. the county are hoping then when all the kolpakkers are retiring and coming to the end in 2 or 3 years our youngsters will be ready for the first team after learning their trade from good players and role models! seems reasonable.

i like everyone else would love to have a few more leicestershire lads playing week in week out but at this moment in time that wouldn't be possible because they aren't good enough!

i believe we're at the start of something and in 2 or 3 years we will be better off all round, patience is the key!

Just listened to an interview with him from the official site and he's still in school studying for his A levels! So won't be a regular at the start of the season especially in the 1st XI, although will play as much as he can.

We need another batsman desperately.

pre season friendly's start next week, they need to move quickly if a batsmen is to be signed

Definitely well too short in the batting department. I think we need to sign 2 'first teamers'. We have New, Ackerman, Dippenear and Allenby who i consider as definites. Taylor may come into the reckoning later in the summer.

Allenby is a genuine allrounder, so i can see him being used as a bowler and therefore maybe no need for a fourth seamer, hence Malik not always playing. This would leave space for 2 more batsmen.

Boyce has been mentioned, but if we get a couple of injuries we have no back up what so ever!
