We moved out of Asfordby and into Melton a couple of weeks ago. Maybe next time I’ll convince her to move to my hometown of Loughborough!

Where’s nice to eat round here?

We went to Nice Pie a couple of weeks ago, very overrated.

Likewise, we found Nice Pie underwhelming, though we were there for Mother's day (none of ours were present), so while we were tucking into our quite nice pies, everyone else had cakes and tea out of china cups.

The Royal Oak at Great Dalby (don't mix up the Dalbys), is one of a disappointedly few pubs in North Leics that might reasonably claim "Gastropub" status, usually has a short "in season" menu which is also a hopeful sign.

I've never been to Nice Pie, so can't really comment.

The Royal Oak has just been taken over though, so maybe that will improve (although I haven't been in since). The old landlord was an arse, so hopefully the atmosphere will pick up, although I would never have referred to it as a gastro-pub. My youngest kids go to school in Great Dalby, so it's a village I know well (one of the partners in the pub now is the husband of the headteacher at the school).

Crab and Cow Leire under new management . Food not cheap but quality stuff ok for a celebration meal. Queens Arms Leire decent village pub with good pub menu at decent prices .

Windmill at Brasscote homemade pies. Have a singer on some nights decent village boozer. Nice vibe great food.

Queens Arms Tandoori Leire. Typical English village country pub with a curry house on the back . Not been open long already a big hit with locals. More to offer than the usual curry venue . Very nice indeed recommended

Rose and Crown at Tilton-on-the-Hill. A couple of years ago it was dying on its feet in a part of the county where there's very little in the way of dining and not many pubs either. Had a refurb and as well as Grainstore ales the menu is simple modern pub grub style with veggie options, sausage and mash was my choice and very nice it was too.

Yes I’ve been once, earlier on in lockdown, when the weather was great and we could sit outside. It was good fun but the drinks were pretty strong :119:

Have you been?
Yes we’ve been a few times in the last month, absolutely smashing beer and yes, it’s kicks like a mule. Had a sesh there tonight and bought a pack of their pale ale to bring home :041:

Not quite Leicestershire but we went for dinner in Oakham first at Oribis, only opened in January. Absolutely cracking tapas/Asian fusion restaurant. Pissed as a coconut now, going to watch some highlights from 2015/16 and get all teary eyed now I reckon.
