The tickets for next tuesday for kids are 5 quid I think and my niece had a letter at school today offering her a special offer on a ticket.

Just £17.

Great organisation yet again. (if im right, which i think I am, If not im sorry LCFC).

It's members who can get tickets for a fiver. Kids are £14 or £17, depending on their age.

Did the school's offer include transport?

i dont believe so. a real special offer.

ok boc fair point about the cheaper tickets due to season ticket holders like my self losing out, the cost was set too high initially and its too late to rectify it without that new english word "compensation" for existing ST holders but empty seats could be given away to under priveledged kids schools any other groups where interest needs promting etc if only to fill the stadium and improve the atmosphere and you never know some might come back

I thought you might take exception to my idea Boc! I really do think though for next season they need to take a long hard look at their pricing, or they could see themselves with crowds dwindling down to 10,000.

I don't "take exception" to your idea; I just don't think it would work. Your proposal appears in a thread that is discussing 'Financial Results' and therefore needs to be viable in that context.

City already do a lot to attract younger fans to the grounds - 500 season tickets have gone to under-8s for FREE - there are three separate ticket-price ranges for people right up to the age of 20 - there is the a grass-roots scheme where schools/clubs can get discounted tikcets for their pupils/members *and* a cash-back for the school/club. It seems the club is putting in no little effort to attract fans for the future.

People seem to think that the cost of going to a football match should be comparable with that of going to the cinema. I would say that the two are not the same thing at all. Watching a film at the cinema may be compared with watching a match on the big-screen in a pub - doesn't that make the cinema seem expensive? What should be compared with the cost of going to the match is the cost of getting a ticket to the theatre or the opera - do you know how much they cost?

I understand your point Boc with regard to the price of other live events. However football has always been something that appeals to different people than the theatre or the opera and was priced as such 10-15 years ago. The shift towards football as a business has resulted in price increases which has in turn resluted in a different sort of football fan going to games. This in turn is responsible for the complete removal of any atmosphere at most grounds in the UK. I for one will not be disappointed when the football bubble bursts, the money drains from the game and we can return to going to football matches at a reasonable cost with a much improved experience for the genuine supporter.

I have often thought that I felt the same way - but can we guarantee that it will return to what it was - and if it does return to what it was, will it still attract the number of people that used to be attracted to it. In days that were more austere there was little else on offer; will the 'game-as-we-knew-it' be able to compete in a modern age?

(Please don't take this as an indication that I like the game the way that it is - I certainly don't. But I think we have had what we have had - and it won't ever be the same again.)

I think if the money goes elsewhere then it will retunr to what it was but it's a big 'if' and there is no sign of it at the moment.

If that happens numbers will drop slightly but we may get back the people who made it what it was. Other than the internet what else is on offer today that wasn't then?

Clubs also have to find money to pay extortionate wages, agents fees etc. And don't give me that "footballers have a short career" crap - there's nothing stopping them getting a proper job once their playing days are over.
