Why don't the testers get the player after a match, say 10 mins after full time whistle.

I'm pretty sure they used to do that, but somebody decided that testing players exclusively in the arena of their actual profession wasn't intrusive enough.

The option to go early appeared to be available only to players who arrived early, so I assumed it was a kind of flexi time, same number of hours, but earlier.

Does this mean if they put in extra time on the training pitch, that they only have to play say 45 minutes on match days....

.... explains Brighton result for starters......

That might be it. If they'd played the second 45 they would've been due time and a half you see. But as they were under no obligation, most of them clocked out and went on the razz in Brighton.

Statement from the club:

In response to the report in the Times newspaper (Thurs Nov 13th) Nigel Pearson states that the missed drug test of a Leicester player happened outside his tenure as manager of Leicester City FC.

The missed drug test occurred in April 2008, whilst Pearson was appointed as Foxes manager on June 20, 2008.

He also accepts as manager of said club his reponsibility to comply with the current drug testing rules by explaining to the players their obligations with regards to their whereabouts.

He has also ensured that the players of the said club are aware that the ultimate responsibility for stating the wherabouts on missed training days rests with themselves.

He has also instucted his lawyer to contact the Times Newspaper in regard to the misrepresentation of facts, and his named part in the article(13th Nov 2008), and subsequent potential harm to his reputation.
