I think that the average football supporter knows that there are ladies with intelligent views on the game - and those that have no idea. This, of course is just like us chaps.
Crikey, I even watched, and enjoyed, some of the Women's World Cup - and not just for its pulchritudinal properties! Where the case of the fairer sex is being done no favours at all, is in the media's desire to put a pretty face upon the box, whatever the story.
The gravitas of wrinkled newsreaders was the first to be swept away but now, we regularly see an attractive young lady, who clearly has no more interest in football than I have in crochet, struggling with the most basic concept of our beloved game. We all know that this is done in the name of political correctness, but I cannot understand why this only seems to cover "eye candy" and not the many females who have a grasp on the finer points of sport.

According to Danny Baker and Danny Kelly's last podcast (excellent stuff by the way), 'stunners' were planted at the last world cup. They apparently sat there bored with what seemed like an ear piece and at a moment of the directors choosing, jumped up and down full of the joys of footy. Once they'd disappeared off the big screen, they nodded off again.

women's reputations for football knowledge tends to take a real bashing when the world cup is on. loads of fat lasses wearing england shirts with gerrard on the back who don't even understand why corners are given.

I can remember being in a pub in town to watch a qualifying game (it was The Granby, anyone remember it?) and there was this woman who was telling the world that her favourite player was Shearer. When asked why, she got her boyfriend to explain for her. Every time the ball went out for a throw in, she kept on screaming "offside". It was embarrassing.
