How many 1 on 1 situations does Mahrez want before he actually beats his man?

I agree that Mahrez wasn't great today. However, compare and contrast his performance with that of Gray who tried a couple of indulgent flicks that didn't work and then actively hid from the game as much as possible. Thereby showing our new manager exactly why his two predecessors couldn't trust him. At least Mahrez shows himself and gets involved when he's not at his best.

On the subject of passing, why did we keep passing the ball to their keeper? Seemed a rather odd tactic.

The selection of Albrghton in that position was plain daft, and i was baffled why it continued so long. Truly bizarre

Not quite as bizarre as deciding to play an incredibly narrow back line, which afforded them whatever width they wanted in the final third. Very strange set up

But that wasn't as bizarre as the decision to effectively concede possssion up to the half way line for the first hour of the game - we played right into their hands

But even that wasn't quite as bizarre as leaving Ndidi on his own to manage De Bruyn and Silva all on his own in the centre of the park. What the feck did we think would happen ?

But the most bizarre of all was the dcision to play the last ten minutes with four strikers playing in a line, with Gray in support - and then wondering why we had about 1% possession of the ball for that entire period. Absolutely feckin' ridiculous

Having said all that, and lived with the product of all that, we were more than simply in the game for 44 minutes and could easily have been ahead. Sadly we turned to pish in the second half

They really were not as good as some have made out.

We are more than capable of doing an awful lot better than that, and that's the most annoying thing of all (apart from the useless bottle merchant of a ref. What a complete twat)

Guess the bookies factor in a crap ref when offering 15/2 odds!

They are an excellent team where players know their exact roles. Sure they’ll get beaten and have a dip in form, probably over the busy period. The last 8 mins were bizarre. I was sure he’d bring off Simpson, revert to a back 3 and send a few long balls for Slim with Mahrez/Gray/Vardy chasing the knockdowns - instead Shinji and Slim charged about the center circle like Bambi on ice.

I thought N’didi put in a tremendous shift and gets way too much criticism. Yes, his passing can be erratic but he’s often the first to challenge, with the highest number of completed tackles in the league. He’s going to develop into a fine player for us.

If you insist.

I thought Maguire was trying desperately to appeal to Guardiola with his performance. "Look Pep, I can pass the ball from the back too, sign me". Problem was, as usual, his positioning and passing were fecking awful.

We lost to a world class team who look unstoppable right now.

Losing by 2 isn’t bad. Absolutely **** all you can do for De Bruyne’s goal. Albrighton’s closed him down, he’s tried to stop the shot and then De Bruyne just shifts it across and pings it in with his weaker foot!

They’ll win the league at a canter.

My only issue with today’s tactics was the lack of tactics in the last 10/15 when we had just loads of strikers on with no idea of how to play them, who was where, or where the service was meant to come from. Having all those strikers on might be okay if we had them pinned them back but the way it was made no sense and we had no chance of making anything happen.

But we lost to a respectable score line to a remarkable team

Need to see that Kompany one again but definitely looked a red to me.

Look two posts up from yours. It’s red.

Nah. That's not a red. Covering defender.

You must tell us some time what the laws say about "covering defenders". All that is required for a red card is for there to have been a denial of a goal-scoring opportunity.

Right back is right on top of him. That's not a 'clear goalscoring opportunity' if you ask me. Which you didn't, in fairness.

You need to see a side view.
