Perhaps there was some kind of arrangement/agreement between managers that a full strength team would not be employed.

I've often wondered if there's a quick phone call between managers prior to such a fixture just to make sure they were both going to field a 'full strength' team, or whether there's just some kind of tacit agreement.

I've thought for years that the League Cup is a waste of time - unless you reach the later stages when for a club like Leicester it provides a chance of providing the club with the easiest opportunity to increase experience of European football. Effectively winning the Man City game and the semi final would have done that because the likely winners will qualify for the Champions League. Wrongly in my opinion Puel picked a team that was almost bound to lose. As it turns out he then felt forced to field the very players he was trying to rest. The worst of all possible worlds. He threw away the game against Man City and he is now likely to make it three home defeats in a row against Man U.

The game also reminded us of how horribly the club has wasted money on non performers. Nacho looks a Championship level player at very best. He idoesn't look like a good player and his attitude doesn't look good either. Hamer should be with a League 2 club or lower. Hamer's replacement who cost a few million quid has a lower profile than Lord Lucan. I can't see how the club can hope to progress with the level of incompetence in recruitment it is insisting on sticking with.

Had the team at the end started the game from the beginning, we'd have more than likely had a better result.

I'm reserving judgement until after the Manure game to see if the League Cup selection was right or not.

And get drawn against our conquerors

We could have been back in Europe by the end of February....

They only got Man City due to them being Bristol City.If we'd got through we'd have got Arsenal or Chelsea.

His ball control is abysmal. He yet again lost the ball by failing to control it and they went down the pitch and scored their goal. Slimani also has a poor first touch.

I like to give players a chance but am rapidly losing patience.

No no, it’s just a “different approach”.

Patience seems to be a commodity that seems to have a shorter lifespan than just a few years ago!
Any player that doesn't hit the ground running from minute 1, is written off.
(Look at some of the comments on Iborra)
He has shown what a run of games could do for a player.
As for Jamie Vardy, there was plenty of people that would "drive him there myself" for a paltry £5m during his first season.

Short sighted ****tardedness

Why? If we do go on and beat Manchester United it won't make any difference to the fact we pissed our best chance of Europe away.

A team selection likely to wreck the season. Puel's selection mirrored the judgement of a Rudkin and is to me a massive disappointment. Defeat against Man U will underline the pointlessness of that selection. Difficult to see outside a run of fantastic results how Puel can put this missed opportunity right. An early exit from the FA Cup and the season will to all intent and purposes be over. HTB seems to overlook that Nacho not only appears to be a dud but he looks to have no interest in playing for the club. Of course it would be great if he suddenly came good - but don't hold your breath.

We wouldn't qualify for europe as runners up in the League Cup.
