Pretty good season so far. Little bit better finishing yesterday and could have been even better.

Some people have their heads in the sand.

Particularly the “we played well, we just couldn’t put the ball away, we’ll be fine if we keep playing like that” folks. The same ones who criticised Maddison for saying the same.

I am quite surprised that Enzo was himself surprised in the way that Middlesbrough set up for the game. There was enough information out there for him to know exactly what they would do. They did it to perfection.

In their home game 1-0 victory over Leicester, Carrick didn't change formation for that game, with Boro still operating with their usual fluid 4-2-3-1 formation. But since that game, Boro have thrice met Premier League sides, with two of those games producing solid performances while playing with a fluid 3-4-3 formation. There's a real possibility Carrick does similar at the King Power.

Regardless of what Boro do set-up wise, their natural instinct to want to ball will remain the same, with recently-off-the-mark attacking midfielder Finn Azaz believing it will be their best form of defence against the league leaders.

Azaz told BBC Tees in the build-up: "It will be a battle for possession, and we have to believe we can win that battle because we’re good in possession. We’re looking at their threat from wide areas and we know their forward players are really good so we have to nullify that and keeping the ball is the best way of defending against them."

Head in the sand about what though generally?

We certainly didn’t play to our best yesterday but outside of some woeful finishing did enough to get something out of the game. We should have been 2-0 up after 10 minutes if not for Vestergaard missing a sitter and Daka doing his best Tricky Trev impression. The subs weren’t great and I think most have acknowledged that.

Are you suggesting there is something people are missing beyond this match?

Not trying to be obtuse or retread the same territory, but what is it you think people are missing?

This one?

There's a replay at 18:00. Didn't look like handball, but from the Kop it probably would have looked like it.

Both the ball and the hand are below the shot at the time I think the offence took place, but yesterday was yesterday and the penalty wasn't given. We weren't good enough and that's it.

What I did notice though is how confusing it can be when the commentators and cameras are on opposite sides of the pitch.
