but last time we ended up with Gary Megson...

I'd be delighted to see Megson in charge next game. At least we'd have a plan, albeit a defensive one.

Dowie, Southgate, Mowbray. I'd support any of them right now.

Anyone but Sousa for me. The man is poison.

ok....

This is a mess.

Its pointless dwelling on how Milan handled (as in mis-handled) the Pearson situation, but what does matter is where we are now.

I think Sousa is off track. He is trying to impose a style of play which is unsuited to the players he inherited and he is trying to bring in new players who he thinks will play to that style.

Unfortunately, the most likely outcome is that he will continue to fail and we will be stuck with a bunch of misfits.

I think its best to get rid - now - and start again before we get dragged into the mire. I realise that chopping and changing managers is no good thing and it could in itself lead to a disastrous season, but on balance I think its worth the risk.

Can people tell me what this Sousa imposing his style of play is all about?

Honestly, I see very little difference in how we play under Sousa, compared to how we played under Pearson. It's all pretty standard Championship mix and match style.

I don't think it's a case of players not adapting to the style of play at all, his new signings have just been poor and he just isn't getting the best out of the players who were already at the club. End of story.

Is the sum total of my conversations back from the ground and in the pub.

I can't see what he is bringing to the table apart from preventing good Championship players from delivering what they did last season.

He has taken a play-off squad and reduced it to the level we enjoyed a couple of years back, a collective of misfits and malcontents.

His signings fall short of the mark by being weak or absent, his tactics and selections are obscure and his ability to effect change seems limited.

I don't know what would be achieved by sacking him - but I don't trust him to spend £10million...if it even exists.

Think that's pretty much right. I didn't see the players trying to play pretty passing football today and failing... I saw them just knocking it long most of the time.

Defensively though we look unorganised. Their 2nd goal was more or less a free header.

Even the commentator made a comment about how he was suprised by our style of play, that we weren't passing around neatly and just kept bypassing the midfield.

The number of times Logan just hoofed the ball upfront was unbelievable for a supposedly footballing side.

That pissed me off no end yesterday, hoofing it up to Howard who hardly won a header all game.

My thoughts: Reading were worse than us, we shouldn't have lost. Defensive crapness cost us two poor goals. King should've been on from the start, it wouldn't have mattered which out of Wellens and Oakley went off for him cos they are too similar. IMO we looked worse defensively after Oakley went off cos Wellens couldn't be arsed to put a damn tackle in all game, whilst Oakley's passing was suspect yesterday his tackling wasn't...when Dany came back to the edge of the area to do what Wellens should've done annoyed me!

Some of those players looked a shadow of themselves from last season(and now we know why cos of the transfer request thing)

They need to sort it out and fast cos tbh right now all I can see is having to watch us play in that shitty lower league division AGAIN and it was bad enough last time(football snob rant over)

Spot on BF

I know.

Had more feckwits round me yesterday slagging off my man, now yes I am a tad biased but tbh it pissed me off no end, he'd put in a damn good tackle and nowt, one misplaced pass and the feckwits slate him, yet Wellens coldn't fight his way out of a paper bag yesterday and the feckwits are praising him! And when he got subbed for King( and like I said, it could've been him or Wellens that went off) the feckwits were booing and shouting 'f*ck off'.

And what really pissed me off was when King did a totally shit pass out to Dyer which had far too much pace so Dyer had no chance to get it, nowt was said, I made the comment that if it had been Oakley doing that pass he would've been slagged off. the response to that?? 'Well he shouldn't be playing for us anyhoo after what happened at Derby'.

But yes....let's all chant DJs name when he doesn't want to be here....let's all wank ourselves silly over King who it seems doesn't want to be here either(and wouldn't take a bloody penalty as one of the first five in Cardiff the damn coward!!)

FICKLE FECKWITS!

Added to that, an older version of Peppa Pig man was doing his usual match commentary of slagging off every thing about the game, the club, the players.......and he starts his misery before the march has started!!! Why he bothers going I really don't know,

:icon_lol: what have we started with that...

Good post by the way :038:

I haven't really read any of this thread (so sorry if this is repeating whats already been said), but generally get the impression that there has been a total overreaction to yesterdays defeat. I honestly don't think we played that badly yesterday, and definitely didn't deserve to lose.
My main concerns are how our defence now looks weaker as a result of the two players Sousa has signed playing in the back four. For me it would make sense to stick Morrison at right back. The guy had a fantastic season for us in this position last year, and I feel this would help shore up our back line no end. I dont think Moreno is a bad player, he just needs to keep it simple. Lamey however looks totally out of his depth, and I'd rather have Neilson playing than him!!!
Apart from that I feel that N'Guessan looked much better in the second half yesterday, Dyer was outstanding, and Fryatt looked dangerous when coming on. My player ratings would be as followed

Logan 6- not at fault for the goals, but his kicking is woeful

Lamey 5- didn't have any confidence in him whatsoever whenever Kebe had the ball. A back up for me at best
Hobbs 7- didn't do a lot wrong for me yesterday, still our best player
Moreno 6- ok he ****ed up for the goal, and it was a stinker, but still made some important challenges in the second half
Berner 7- looked much more solid yesterday, which can only be a good thing

Dyer 8- outstanding effort for his goal, ran his socks off, and was always our biggest threat. Did not deserve to lose
Oakley 7- actually thought he had a decent game breaking up possession and should've stayed on
Wellens 6- far to hit and miss yesterday. Makes some good passes and wins the ball back, but is too slow and makes the wrong decisions
N'Guessan 7-it would've been a 5 if he only played the first half, but he looked a threat in the second using his strength, and put in a number of dangerous balls

Gallagher 6- don't fancy him as a striker at all. Much better out wide
Howard 6- hold up play in the second half was exceptional. But he never looked like a goal threat

Fryatt 6.5- gave us more of a threat when he came on and has to start our next game

Yes we are bottom of the league, but its still early days, and I am fully confident that we will turn it around.

Pretty decent assessment although I felt Lamey was more of a 6 although on that showing doesn't offer much more than Neilson. And as for Fryatt I felt he looked like he doesn't want to be here.

Thought that was what Dyer was suggesting...

He was our best player today by far, but there was no need for that.

I wasn't at the game yesterday. Can someone explain to me what Dyer is meant to have done? :102:
