That is a terrific point against a very good side.

We had a game plan but it didn't work because Brighton are too good and we are too prone to making passing mistakes.

However, we were never out of the game. We hung in there and fought. Coady was terrific in defence and as a leader. He never shut up. Soumare competed really well in midfield and showed some real quality at times.

Our problem was the two wide players. Ayew was clearly unfit. He couldn't run as well as usual and he limped through the second half. He brought on another unfit winger in Mavidid which just showed how hard it is to manage this group at the moment.

McAteer was the weakest link. He was poor against West Ham but I gave him a pass. Today though, wow. He just isn't a PL player. Nowhere near. I blame him for the first goal because he was far too slow to realise the danger and track his man back. He would easily have stopped the cross from the left had he not been so brain dead. There were so many occasions where he made the wrong choice or showed nowhere near enough quality.

What can you say about Vardy. Wonderful finish for the first goal and a brilliant assist in the circumstances. What a legend. Oh, and De Cordova Reid did well when he came on against West Ham and again today. For me, he is playing his way into the side.

Just been on the Brighton forum. Their bloated sense of superiority and entitled table position is really quite stunning. They're calling for the manger to go. Incredible.
Yes, on the face of it that seems ludicrous, and perhaps it is. But I’m always reticent to put down a fan base when they want a manager sacked. I thought Rodgers should have paid the price for ****ing up a second top four finish. To a fan of any other club that would have seemed ridiculous. Also, there are fans of other clubs and media ‘experts’ who didn’t understand (or chose not to for effect) why we wanted Cooper out. They didn’t watch us week in and week out and had no clue as to why we wanted rid of him. It’s too easy to look from the outside and make judgments.

But of course it’s likely just some forum twats saying that and not a reflection of how the whole fan base feels.

Hats off to Dog Bobby Reid as well. Yes his goal was a tap in, but his assist for Vardy’s goal was brilliant
Yeah, fair play to him. He’s hardly played 90 mins for us. Yet he’s come on in the last two games and had an impact. Of course he’s limited. But that’s where we are. He was in the position and had the vision to try and find Vardy. And he was in the right place for the equalizer.

Tbf I only looked at the first four pages and the same around full time. On further reading you are right, there are a few more sane posts!

They’ll find where they belong eventually. Don’t worry.

Such a shame Fatawu got injured. We just need to scrape whatever we can until January and hope there’s some money and a fecking plan.

Leaving aside the rest of your post, as I wasn’t there today, I’ve mentioned this before, but we’ve lacked genuine leadership for a while. Even if it’s behind the scenes, we need that and I think it’s pretty obvious that Coady can provide that.

The voice and leadership were the only real reasons for selecting Coady before now. His actual performances haven't been good enough.

Today though, he was easily our best defender too. His passing was good and his blocks and positioning were excellent.

I thought Vestergaard was sloppy and lazy today. I presume there is a fitness issue with him too as that's both games he's been taken off.

Coady is first choice central defender for me.

That’s why I said, “even if it’s behind the scenes”. Leadership in the group is massively important.

In the first half it was all a bit sloppy but almost everything that went wrong was due to Ayew who was dreadful and who was entirely responsible for their goal.

We actually played some lovely stuff at times albeit in short bursts but we were always in the game which has been a rare occurrence this season.

Coady was excellent and I haven't said that really since he joined us. He and Vestergaard look so much better than any other pairing we have used so far. Vestergaard put in some fantastic challenges today but his passing was a little sloppy at times which is unlike him.

Another wonderful finish from Vardy and some lovely work to setup Dog Bobby gives us a cracking point. A word on Cordova-Reid; he was great when he came on as he was against West Ham. He has to start over Ayew. Mavididi also looked great when he came on and it was his tenacity in winning the ball back that led to our equaliser. He must start over McAteer.

All in all, I really enjoyed that.

Should start in front of Ayew I reckon.

Thought Mavididi changed the game today. Very bright.

A great point. 4 from 2 games is an amazing start and will hopefully give the players a bit of belief.

On McAteer, I think he'll end up as a good championship player. Works hard and is aggressive. Can pass and has shown he can score. But he's just not got the consistent class and skill for the PL. That means he'll have games where he looks the part and others where he just looks shit ( like today).

Coady was great today.

Skipp looks terrible. Nonsense signing.

this is a question that is definitely minimising a team problem but how can our defence have improved massively, but have shipped 5 goals in 2 games?

I thought we battled extremely well against a technically gifted team. We were never really out of it and always looked dangerous. Positives all round, but we have players who are often incapable of making a simple pass or retaining the ball.

Ayew and McAteer let us down horribly in the first half. Complete and utter shite, the pair of them. ****ng dreadful. Vestergaard was also very poor and was rescued by Coady and Kristiansen repeatedly.

Apart from that our defence was compact, organised and well drilled. An incredible change from the absolute chaos under the previous hopeless gimp. Coady once again shouted and cajoled them into everything. Superb stuff. Kristiansen was outstanding again, and Soumare was very good in front of them, especially in the second half.

The game changed when we took the two shite wide players off, and changed immeasurably when he then brought Daka on. Not sure he actually touched the ball much, but he hassled like mad and created bucketloads of space for others. So nice to have a manager who changes the game for the better.

Another five minutes and I think we might have had them - we were excellent and they simply shat the bed.

What can you say about Vardy. His movement and pressing was outstanding, his finish was superb, and his set up for Bobby Shitpants was simply wonderful. What a ****ing hero that bloke is. Sensational.
