Something has gone wrong and damaged the spirit of the team.

Could be- team mates seeing Weale dropped for a keeper whose got ability but flaps around in a way that can't inspire any confidence in the rest of the defence (this doesn't excuse the derision shown to Ricardo, but football fans aren't collectively either the brightest or most sensitive bunch)

Could be - other players don't like the money being thrown at Yak who looks less than fully committed

Could be - they can't understand why Sven has chopped & changed the system and made difficult to comprehend team changes like giving the over the hill Oakley an extended run

or maybe we all got slightly deluded and playing against better sides and under pressure revealed that you can't just bring in a whole bunch of loanees and signings and expect entirely consistent results

Before Sven took over we were awful and were looking like returning to league one, I don't think many expected us to get near the playoffs but after battling hard we have bottled it. I wouldn't say satisfied is the correct word for how I feel, the thought of another season of Championship football is shitty but I'm reflecting on what could have been.

I agree that, I too would have been delighted to think that we would be in this position, as Sousa's reign came to its end but, other things have changed too. Sven has Top and, seemingly, unlimited money, which he has used. With so many Premier quality players, shouldn't we, at least be very close to promotion?

What exactly was Yakubu's job, then?:102:

I don't call just standing still doing something about it.
He was the nearest player to the ball, and to their player, he made NO attempt to either play the ball or put their player off.

When the ball was in the back of the net, he was looking around for someone else to blame.

Sorry Han disagree there, he knew he was there, he was marking no one else and let him run past his shoulder and head the ball in front of him. School boy stuff!

Every player has a job to do at set pieces and has clear instructions on who to mark and where. Somebody would have been given specific instructions to mark Hoolahan but they didn't do it.

Yakubu's 'job' on corners is to cover the front post, and clear any balls that come in short or low. He does this on every corner. Hoolahan started his run in the middle of the box, in front of the keeper, nowhere near Yakubu.

Yakubu started to back-track to pick him up, when he realised he was unmarked, but it was too late in the end as Hoolahan had already started his run.

I wonder what the reaction would have been if Yak pickup up the man, but a low cross came in without him there to stop it. Lose-lose situation for him.

It's disappointing more than anything. I guess we should be thankful we got rid of Sousa and pulled away from the drop. There are teams in this league that would kill to be in our position right now. Ultimately in the last few games we have come undone against teams that are higher placed than us. Even if we did manage to scrape the play offs I can't see us coming out on top at the end of it..

I just think at the minute Sven is making some rather baffling decisions. You can point to dropping Weale when he was in good form as one for definate.. wish we'd start with king and wellens in the middle and gally and dyer out wide with yak and waghorn or vassell upfront. Simple 4-4-2 making use of wide men in midfield is what I'd like to see.

Yeah, bit depressing really.

Can't get too upset over a sport but makes the trduge to work this morning a bit harder.

Yakubu started to back-track to pick him up, when he realised he was unmarked, .

Yakubu clearly pointed him out to someone else before the corner was even taken when he could have done the marking. Surely you mark a man as opposed to space, there was someone on the front post who could have covered if need be. He made a mistake. Though I was still angry at Oakley losing the ball 60 yards up the other end of the pitch!

So even he knew it was someone else's job, he told them, and they still didn't do it?

Not the Yak's fault in my opinion. Just doing what he was told.

I really thought we were going to storm into the play-offs but the recent run of form has completely blown those thoughts away. Is the loan market our downfall? Do the players really want it enough?

To me it was sven going too far.

In my view the mistakes were the changes made for the derby game which were kept for for the games after.

Notably.

Changing the keeper.
Bringing in oakley.
Bringing in bruma.

The team was flying at that point and he made sweeping changes.

Some people only have eyes and ears for Leicester City. What happens to other clubs/countries can be irrelevant to these people.

There are some on here like that. A couple of the mods have even admitted as much :icon_bigg

Finding what happens to other clubs and countries irrelevant does not preclude one from reading a hundred times since his arrival of a keeper's penalty-saving escapades at the expense of a national team in which one would otherwise have no interest.

PS Who's the other one?

Well 'fessed up :icon_wink

Our esteemed WebMeister has been known to claim no knowledge of certain non-Leicester types in the past.

Not quite as bad as that judge asking who Gazza was though!

I might start watching more cricket. Every cricket game I've been to has been a joy. Minging of good natured, essentially well informed supporters.

Bernie goes to the cricket as well?

What he did in the past is relevant to these people. It's what he does for us that matters. His football career starts and ends at Filbert Way :icon_wink

I think you mean irrelevant, rather than relevant.

But isn't that always so. Blackburn Rovers won the Football League three times in a row - but it is totally irrelevant to the team and club they are now. Bruno Berner was Player of the season last year - but that doesn't help us now. It's not a case of "If you know your history" - it's today's performances that decide how your heart beats, whatever the Everton fans (and others) think.

I think it's more due to the change to this odd 'diamond' formation. The team was used to playing the 4-3-3 and we were winning games. I can only think of one reason for adopting the new formation and that is to give Oakley a starting place in the side, which I find odd. Maybe Sven feels we need a 'leader' like him on the pitch.

I haven't watched Match of the Day for years and I take little interest in the Premier League. But that doesn't mean I have no interest in football outside Leicester.
I've been to 20+ Carlisle games this season so I know more about their current team than I do about Leicester's.

Could be that the players are being affected by the elements in their own support who are constantly on their backs.

No I don't.

I think that to believe that would be to get cause and effect the wrong way round.

Frankly, I'm afraid that Sven has to be primarily responsible. I realise that he is held in very high regard and he is world renowned and has an excellent presentational style - cool and collected etc etc.

Unfortunately, like the rest of human kind he has his flaws to and in this case it involved messing about with the playing formation and making some bad calls in team selection over recent weeks.

As you sort of hinted in an earlier post, it would be interesting to know how the owners view the way things have been bottled in the last few games. I'm not certain that they will think that they've got value for theirmoney over the last month.

So even he knew it was someone else's job, he told them, and they still didn't do it?
.

It's about taking responsibility. If Ben Mee has a chance from six yards but he could square to King for a twelve yard shot....which is better? It's not Mee's job to score....
