I know conditions were poor but both sides showed very poor ball control. Swansea in the first half seemed to be constantly over hitting the ball. Hobbs miskicked a number of times in the first half while McGovern made what I think was an attempt at a cross that was so bad he should have his membership of the PFA cancelled; it would have been laughable on a park. I was reminded of Frank Worthington's comment on modern footballers "who can trap a ball further than I can kick it."

Agreed on everything there, except the spelling of our left-back's name. Swansea's overhitting of the ball and general substandard ball control continued into the second half too.

One thing that impressed me against Sheffield United and even more today was our ability to nullify opponents during time added on. We did an excellent job of keeping possession in their half.
I was pleased that Andy King's goal came in the 40th minute since it meant that those people who pushed past people to get their meat pies missed it. Then I realised that they were not that interested in what happened on the pitch anyway.

Can never understand how people can walk away while the game is still in progress.
For those pies as well - yeugh!

They had cottage pie and lots of vegetables in The Great Hall.

It was a plateful of food as well, then again for £6.50 it should be!

I am pleased to know that you are an aficionado of cottage pies Beaumont.
From April to October you could have a superb cottage pie in tranquil surroundings at the Kings Lock Tearooms and then like me prepare for the match by a nice stroll along the river to the Walkers.
Not only would the vegetables be home grown in a garden that you could see but you would have your cottage pie at a real lock-keepers cottage.
Those people who cannot get through half time without eating could buy a beautiful home made baguette to take away. You would never want to eat from the concourse again.

It looked ok tbh, though I didn't have any.
I much prefer making me own!!

Every time we've been up there they've had proper food, none of the half cooked burgers you get on the concourse.....bastards charged for the tea and coffee today though, £1.50 for a cup half the size you get in the normal seats! Tsk. Wasn't that cheap coffee though, even I could tell that!

Three of those months won't actually feature a match at the Walkers :icon_bigg

This is true. It is the only compensation for the lack of football, However, it adds a special magic to the end of the old season and to the start of the new. I should warn fans of concourse food that they do not sell greasy burgers and nothing is re-heated in a microwave.

Mickey Adams regularly used to run past the tearooms mindlessly ignoring the scenery his face contorted with stress. If he had stopped for a cream tea and some quiet thinking he would have made better decisions.

Cream in tea? That sounds vile, I don't even have milk in my tea.

Are you pretending you don't know what a cream tea is?

He doesn't even know what makes super noodles so super.

Next he'll be telling us that Joey Barton is a great player that makes 'good strong tackles'.

Kinda. I don't actually know what it is, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't involve putting cream into tea.

Regular tea served with a side of scones, jam and clotted cream. The jam and cream are for the scones, not the tea.

Okay. So, what exactly is 'clotted' cream? I've heard of it, but I dare not look it up, it sounds obscene.

And how exactly are you pronouncing 'scone'?

It's tasty, it's like cream but erm, thicker. There is this bizzare waxy layer on top of the cream however, even top scientists don't know why this layer exists or what it is made of.

Scown.
