Also - David Nugent... has turned out to be 10 times the player I expected. His first touch when running at goal is second to none.

I completely agree with what you said about both Schmeichel and Nugent. I didn't realise what a good player Nugent was either. I know he's never made it in the PL, but he's an excellent striker at this level, as you say his first touch for his goal was a touch of absolute class.

Very mixed game. First half it looked like another 4 goal thrashing was on the cards but in the second half Watford stepped it up, although I can't remember a single chance except for an edge of the box lash that Kasper turned over.

On that note.... Casper (yes I avoided having to spell his second name) is by far the best keeper I have seen in a City shirt for a very long time. I thought Fulop was a good keeper but Casper (I did it again) is top class! The save in the second half was EPL standard. Simon Grayson can mop up his words with garlic bread and swallow them whole, silly silly man.

Funny, I thought Casper was a friendly ghost and probably hopeless in goal.

They were awful in the first half and not much better in the second.

Nugent ran his socks off and took his goal superbly. Bamba looked comfortable SSL nervy.

Also saw Beckford make some good movement off the ball on a number of occasions but no-one was picking him out- hopefully will gel with the team in time.

Wellens had a good game tonight too.

I'd forgotten how cold mid week games in October can be. I needed to dig out the thermals really.

Sol, Kasper, Dave and Paul (avoiding all surnames!) all were impressive. I thought Ritchie had a good one too, particularly in the first half.

I wasn't as impressive with Jermaine, despite the goal. May be it was because we didn't feed him enough balls but he just seemed to sulk after every ball he kicked or failed to get.

Bamba's keepie uppies (and btw, did the ball actually go out? It looked like it was a goal and he'd kept it in from where I was sitting) and his turning of two oncoming attackers were absolutely brilliant. That's what I love about Bamba, his madcap antics brighten up cold Wednesday night games against Watford. I fully accept that Schmeichel and Nugent have probably been better players for us this season so far, but Bamba is the one I've enjoyed watching the most by a country mile.

Come on chaps, even we -under McClown, beat Watford.

Did you watch that game. Watford should have won it and your goal came from a complete balls up in defence. Go back to your relegation scrap :icon_wink

I'd stick Watford down as one of the worst Championship outfits I've ever. A mind-numbing 90 minutes where the high was two blokes behind me convinced Johnson was Gally, thereby cheering loudly when he won a tackle.

I'd have to agree, this was the most depressing win I've ever seen, we made hard work of beating a truly awful team and I can't see any sign of tactics or a 'way of playing' emerging. If we continue playing like this we will huff and puff to 6-10 in the league which really isn't very good when you look at the squad we have.

Looking forward to better on Saturday.

I remember last season when I went to Sheff U at home, froze my bollocks off, the coldest experience i've ever had, was still chattering when I got back to my uncles!

The first half we did well and could have gone up a gear if we needed to.

I get the impression they were told to rest a bit in the second half (given 3 games in a week i think this is sensible) and just see the game out.

Not the most entertaining, but a proffesional performance.

No we didn't, we went two nil up and in complete control of the game. Why some fans want the players to exhaust themselves by going 100% all game is beyond me, we saw out a win easily and have conserved some energy for Saturday.

Worst side we have played this season by a country mile - possibly for the last two or three seasons. Utterly clueless in every department, and will seriously struggle to survive based on that display

We played well in fits and starts in the first half, but never really got going. Nugent's control and finish were sublime, Abe's cross for the second was simply wonderful

But, seriously, that second half was the most dreary, turgid display of complete technical and tactical ineptitude I have witnessed for many a year. Completely lifeless, completely awful in every way. Words just cannot convey just how dreadful it was

Wellens slows the game down far too much. Beckford needs the ball in front of him (why we cannot see that is beyond me). I believe Andy King is still reported as being missing in action, and the rest do not even warrant a rating of average.

It was truly horrible to watch, and the ref's blow of the final whistle was a blessed relief for everyone.

Why did we need to do anything else except sit back and see the game out?

Because we need to start getting a settled team together that can challenge the top teams in the division, an awful 2nd half against a team bereft of any ability isn't going to help us when we hit the real challenges. If West Ham sent a scout to the game they will be laughing at the 'challenge' from city in 10 days time.

Coasting along with a few decent performers papering over the cracks is not the football we need to make a serious challenge but maybe it's just Sven trying to be clever

****ing idiots surrounded me today, we were shit second half apparently because we didn't score 3 more.

Wouldn't say we were shit, but we certainly seemed to be settling for what we had in the second half.
