He's a Scouser, what do you expect? Gotta respect what he's done with a shoestring budget though.

Yeah shoestring budget, any team can afford to just spend 4million on a striker and more money on two new centre backs! I know the money was from the Johnson transfer but it is hardly a shoestring budget.

I agree. And Chris Burke didnt cost buttons either!! Peter Whittingham is some player though. Him and Burke would be in my Championship team of the year thus far

He had to sell Glen Loovens, Ramsey and Gunter too with little or nothing to spend, and now it looks like Matthews is off to the Manure in January. He also brought wayward stars Chopra and Bothroyd back from obscurity and personal issues, which goes to his man management ability. He's not the longest serving manager in the Championship for no reason.

He didnt sell them guys this summer (except Gunter), but did spend a hell of a lot more money than most in the Championship

No he cost less than that which supports my argument. Whitts has been a revelation this year. The penalty taking duties seem to have transformed him from a player I'd have
happily seen leave on a free to one I'll happily see leave for a good few mill. Still needs to learn how to tackle though. Burkey's gonna get ya.

Back from obscurity... I'm pretty sure most/all Championships teams would've LOVED to have been able to sign Chopra... he was out of the team in the Prem, but I wouldn't exactly say he was brought out of obscurity.

Everyone knew he could cut it in this league.

The obscurity comment was more related to Jay than Chops as he was languishing on the bench at Wolves with a lazy label.
The personal issue comment was more for Chops.

Cardiff made nearly £10 million off of Ramsey, Gunter and Loovens alone. No doubt when you sell Ledley he'll go for more than £5 million.

Don't kid yourself that your poor old manager is working on a shoestring budget - any team that can spend £4 million on one player in the Championship is not working on a shoestring budget - Newcastle and West Brom haven't even spent that much on a single player this season. I'd be surprised if we'd spent £4 million in total during the summer.

And don't act like he's taken Bothyroyd and Chopra on when no-one else would have - any team in the Championship would have taken them on, but they wouldn't have paid as much as you did.

And still DJ has to buy bargain basement from Scotland, lower leagues or rely on loans.

Your ignorance of the situation is astounding. Most of that £4m was what we received from Sunderland, or were still owed when they bought him from us for £5m

Now you're just making stuff up. All I said was that he's got the best out of two troubled players which spoke well for his man management ability. The fact that Chopra wanted to come back to Cardiff bears this out.
