Great shout Brown, NP is most certainly doing a magnificent job. Surely we must all agree on that now.

I agree completely. Everything NP does works, for example most managers wouldn't have moved Berner given how well he's been doing and bring in Davies, who hasn't played much football this year but it worked perfectly. I love this fella, and I really get the feeling he has the dressing room and the board on his side.

You missed the cut-off time to do that anyway.

Unless you are a secret mod and have 'special' privileges :icon_lol:

I'd say they were more moderate than special

sorry.......

the gulf isn't all that big if you ask me, you can see that by all the clubs that are similar to us struggling at the bottom of the Championship at the moment and it's not uncommon now to see a side that has done well in the league below, go up and continue to do well.

I personally just think most of it last season was down to Ian Holloway :102: it seems unfair to blame him I guess but IMO it was because he was a poor manager, forget all the shit that happened before him - his job was to come in and sort that out - and he didn't.

We now seem to have a decent manager and I hope that we can keep the majority of the squad together that we need. As has been mentioned, there are players on our books we could look at selling and use some of that money to bring in some more useful additions. IMO Fryatt doesn't fit into the 'offload' category. I'd sell Kisnorbo and Mattock while they are worth something for a start... possibly DJ too, Dickov is expendable. Kishishev already gone.

(2) What was the very rhythmic chant from the Kop during the second half? I was around the halfway line and unable to make it out. It sounded like it ended with "referee".

We sang "3-0 in your cup final, 3-0 in your cup final" to the tune of "1-0 to the Leicester boys"

Great laugh and top performance.

It was "Left Side Right Side" that I was referring to. It sounded really great from where I was near the halfway line. But what was the rest of the "Left Side Right Side" chant.

The complete words are:

"We're the right side
We're the right side
We're the right side over here"

The response, not surprisingly is:

"We're the left side
We're the left side
We're the left side over here"

It is a very old chant which I first heard long before Arsenal left Highbury where the Clock End ("We're the Clock End, Highbury") and the North Bank ("We're the North Bank, Highbury") used to sing it to each other.

I think that by far the biggest problem was the appointment of Martin Allen. Significantly none of his 14 signings made the team yesterday. When he was sacked Milan had the right idea in going for a dour calm it down personality like Gary Megson. Wisely or not he then opted for Bolton and the Premiership where he is doing quite well. I think Ian Holloway is a good manager but in retrospect he was the wrong choice. After Martin Allen's hyper-energy we needed to settle down. Ian Holloway was another hyper-energetic type (though positive) when that was not what we needed. Holloway made three permanent signings - Oakley, Howard and Hayles - two of which played on Saturday. Certainly Holloway failed to clear up the mess and so he failed; but he was not the one who signed loads of right backs or thought Kishishev and Carl Cort were going to be stars. After reading his excellent book I was disappointed when Holloway was sacked without being able to try his ideas in preseason. However, in retrospect Milan was right: we needed a completely fresh start. I do not think that Holloway (or Megson) would have done as good a job as Nigel Pearson has. That does not stop me still having an affection for that enthusiastic little man.

Holloway was a jerk who couldn't manage the team or change his failing tactics when necessary.

It's a load of shite anyway. I thought it was embrassing.

Holloway did sign 11 players though - the majority of which were loanees at better positioned clubs, read from that what you will. He used something like 30 odd players in his reign.

Maybe the difference from this season to last season is that....its a differnet team?

Only 3 people who played against Stoke at the end of last season played against Peterborough on Saturday.

Team against Peterborough: Martin ,Gilbert ,Hobbs ,Tunchev ,Berner ,Oakley ,Andy King ,Davies ,Dyer ,Howard ,Fryatt (Dickov ,72)

Team against Stoke: Henderson ,Stearman ,McAuley ,N'Gotty ,Mattock ,Bell ,Worley (Fryatt ,85) ,Oakley ,Hayles ,Howard ,Hume

The hundreds who were doing it, and the thousands who were smiling at it would tend to disagree with you.

You miserable bastard :icon_lol:

Possibly that

Or possibly that this season most of the opposition teams are complete and utter shite

Nothing miserable. It's feck all to do with the club - it's a silly chant with no merit to it. It's cringe-worthy. I'd rather we sing songs about the actual club and it's players. Anyone who was singing right-side/left-side probably wasn't watching the game and that's the original reason I go to the football. :icon_roll

Don't you think a lot of them were last season too?
