Don't agree with that at all.

The only way to show respect in professional sport is to give your absolute best at every moment. Fair enough if you think that is best served by conserving energy and protecting players once the outcome is beyond question, but to say that you're slowing down to not hurt the feelings of other players, who incidentally are plying their trade at the pinnacle of the game and being rewarded handsomely for doing so, is ridiculous.

I don't think if, while pushing for a sixth, somebody had pulled a hamstring and put themselves out for a couple of months. The professional thing to do was to relax a bit and go into the next match with tails up and at full fitness
