Skysports.com understands a number of clubs are monitoring Southampton's Leon Best.

The 20-year-old is considering his future at Southampton with his current contract at St Mary's expiring in the summer.

Best has struggled to hold down a regular place in the Southampton side this term and he has spent two successful loan spells at Bournemouth and Yeovil.

Southampton have offered a new deal to Best, but the youngster is considering his options as he is keen to be playing regularly.

Best's contract status has alerted a number of clubs to his possible availability in the summer.

The likes of Coventry, Leicester, Luton, Bristol City and Nottingham Forest are all thought to be eyeing up the talented striker.

Double meaning sentance surely. If he's a "talented striker" why are the above clubs mentioned and not Premier League clubs.

I would re-word it to: "He's an OK striker, not brilliant, but not rubbish. He's not good enough to play in the Premier League where Southampton hope to be going, so some of these clubs might want him 'cause we don't........."

we got to remember he is a young striker and not so long ago a young striker was brought from Warsall and he was ment to be amazing and he was for the remainder of the season but Fryatt this season has been poor so far with injuries and all sorts,

Leon Best is another hidden talented Forward who we could take a risk on, seen him play a few times and he does look the real deal, if we can have a good midfield and then give him a chance upfront you never know he could be scoring and that what matters, as everyone said so many times, as long as he puts the ball in the net and we win that is what matters right??

Well that is what we really need a proven striker but who is going to come to a club that has money but has to fight to stay in the championship and to a manager who doesn't get the best out of you but the worst, a manager that makes you turn shit and nottt good, plus what proven striker is going to come to the championship..

not true, southampton wouldnt be offering him a new contract if they didnt think he has the potential. Billy sharpe plays his footy in league 1 but he is a brilliant striker.it is rare for a premiership team to but anyone from league 1, doesnt mean there arn't some brilliant players down there.

plus being in the permiership the club has alot more funds and they know if they go down to the championship or league 1 & 2 the asking price will be really high cause the lower teams are trying to squezze every penny out the bigger teams, that why the perimership teams always looking outside of the UK for there players.
