BN I agree with part of what you say (a large part), I think a lot is to do with leadership and characters on the field and in the dressing room. But I also think part of the mix that explains LCFC at the present time is the tactics & playing against defensive lower-level performers which you seem to dismiss. Personally I feel it is both this AND the character issue that you raise.
Unfortunately because our manager is not a strong character, the leadership has to come from a couple of strong characters on the pitch & for them to bring it into the dressing room as well. I'm not bashing Puel for his lack of personality here... it's fine IF he brings in the strong characters, the strongest team selection, and appropriate tactics in the right combination and blend of them all together. I hope that this match is a 'turning the corner' moment. We'll see.
